On the Chicken/Egg argument ... there are tons of examples over the years of pushes that just didn't work. It isn't possible to get just anyone over, and someone not over after a long push may not get pushed indefinitely. On the other hand, they could be Mark Henry.

Another great column Vin-man. But a couple of comments in regards to your assessment of indy feds. Ring of Honor, FIP, and Chikara is pretty spot on. Chikara is also a pretty basic primer in what to expect from the world of Lucha Libre. IWA:Mid South is far from good. Occasionally they have great stuff and their annual Ted Petty Invitational is worth a look-see, but their average show is the drizzling shits that appeals to death match fans. They also have the heat coming down on them for their recent Mike Levy incident.

PWG is more light hearted than pure comedy. It is not as tongue in cheek as Chikara, but not as serious as RoH. CZW with the brief exception of the Ring of Honor feud has not been relevant in a long, long time.

Most independent wrestling can be pretty bad. It is a terrible idea for fans of Ring of Honor expecting that level of production from all independent shows, because it is not close to there. Indy wrestling has to be welcomed with an even more open mind than the big two.

I have long championed supporting your local indy fed, and I still do. The best advice a fan can take is to go in with a completely open mind and no expectations. Go in with a mindset to have fun and enjoy what you see. You might get treated to an awesome match like Upstate New York indy fed 2CW has been known to provide. You might get absolute trash, but if you go in with no expectations that chance of being entertained is that much higher.

I'll see you next time...
