WWE DotCom Delivery – Week of 08/23/08
By Raffi Shamir - August 23, 2008 | Email the author

SummerSlam is in the books and the DotCom doesn’t look back, as we have a completely fresh week of online shows.

But things don’t have to be fresh to be good, because OMG Moment of the Week gives us THE defining moment of ECW – August 27th, 1994. Shane Douglas beats 2 Cold Scorpio in the finals of the NWA Championship tournament only to throw down the NWA belt and tell Flair, Rhodes and Steamboat they can all kiss his ass. Douglas picks up the ECW championship belt from ringside, and declares himself as the new ECW Heavyweight Champion of the World, saying that “The Franchise, Shane Douglas, is the man who ignites the new flame of the sport of professional wrestling.” A new era definitely began that night, and this is a must see for any wrestling fan.

On Word Up this week, Cryme Tyme teaches us the word FLOSSIN’ – showing off expensive goods, basically flashing around your expensive stuff and jewelry (I’m a white Jewish boy so I can’t use the words bling or ice and not look ridiculous). Flossing is also known as pimpin’, stuntin’, rick rossin’ it or the best alternative- crymetime-in’ it. They bring up Jay-Z as someone who’s certainly flossin’, and doing it damn well.

Matt Striker continues to pull double duty, behind the ECW announce desk and on the DotCom with Best WWEek, Worst WWEek. Striker continues to be obvious, and rather dull, with his choices for Best WWEek, as this week he picks Michael Phelps. That’s original. His choice for Worse WWEek is a bit better and less predictable – Ara Abrahamian, the Swedish wrestler who won the bronze medal and threw it away in a hissy fit. He even mentions the name of Ludvig Borga in the process, so that has to count for something.

As for the newly crowned Intercontinental champion, things couldn’t be happier in Santino’s Casa. We start with SummerSlam highlights, to the tune of Orff’s Carmina Burana. Classy. Santino gets a visit from two Chicago Cubs players, al least one of them is mistaken for a batboy. Still, two Cubs are no match for Santino and he chases them away and wishing them continued “good” luck. Another entertaining edition of the Casa.

And from the second best DotCom show to the Number 1 show, The Dirt Sheet. Did you know that John Morrison donated 2,300$ to Barack Obama? Well now you do. Miz & Morrison are being nice to their fans this week and read fan mail. The lucky Mizfit whose letter they read is Evan Bourne (Who’s not really lucky, because virgins aren’t allowed to hang out in the Palace of Wisdom). Ricky Ortiz writes the Mofo fan mail. Apparently Ortiz has a big problem with selling (merchandise). Miz & Morrison don’t forget to address last week’s match against Matt Hardy & MArk Henry, as they wish (former) referee Wes Adams best of luck in his future endeavors. Literally. Stuff like that make The Dirt Sheet the best DotCom show, hands down. They’re like Edge and Christian when they first started talking and were reeking of awesomeness. They’re that good.

And as always, Josh Mathews is closing the week with his Weekly Top Five. Cena’s handicapped victory of Rhodes/DiBiase is at number five, for some reason. Jeff Hardy’s win over The Great Khali en route to the SmackDown Championship Scramble is at number four. The number three spot is always reserved for ECW and this week follows this path with the rematch between Matt Hardy and Mark Henry. The great match between CM Punk and Chris Jericho takes number two and finally Undertaker is at the top spot with his dismantling of La Familia. Clearly not one of WWE’s stronger weeks.
