Given that you took the time to counterpoint my point and defend my reason, and did it in a polite fashion, I'm delighted to comply!

Reasons why I don't think Edge vs Taker at SummerSlam is MOTY calibre.

1/ It went too long and the first half was not engaging enough to justify this

2/ There was no drama in the result, as I never once thought Edge even had a chance. A MOTY should always have some form of drama.

3/ It didn't work as a blow-off to an epic feud. They didn't *need* blood per se, but they needed *something* there. I just didn't feel "it" that would have made it seem like the end of the most intense feud in ages. Jericho vs Michaels has done it much better thus far and they haven't even FINISHED their feud yet, despite having two perfectly acceptable and effective finishing points!

4/ "That" ending... the chokeslam into the pits of hell... cheesy as hell. What's next? Henry Godwinn? Mantaur? This isn't 1995, you know...

Of all of the above points, I say the first is the most pertinent. There are opening bits of a match that are slower and can get away with being "methodical" but rely on the charisma of the wrestlers to make it work. For all their qualities, Edge and Taker don't have this particular ability, so their first 10 minutes came off as boring. No MOTY should be described as boring in any part.

Plus, if they hated each other so much, why did it start so slow? Also, if Edge was a borderline raving lunatic at that point, why would he have got dressed up in his full wresling gear and ring jacket etc? The whole thing just wasn't firing on enough cylinders to work for me. Good match, yes. Best of the year so far? Not a chance.

When's the last time London was on Raw? We need a countdown to go along with the Honk-A-Meter.

Considering London's talent, I wouldn't even mind him in the X-Division. They've got a good record with guys of that level (AJ, Daniels, Joe, Ki, Cide Sabin/Shelley and Lethal all being pushed legitimately).

I HOPE London's headed back to the indies if (when) he's released, but I think he's headed for the X Division.

It would be awesome to see the four faces in the 8 man tag in a Survivor Series elimination tag. Hell, add a man on each side and just re-do this match elim style. I'd go for it.

Also, London's probably on his way back to the indies once he's finally cut, so hey, silver lining. Beyond his being persona non grata in WWE, it's pretty obvious WWE wants us to believe Cade's the only guy Shawn ever trained at all, so that team up we all wanted to see was just never gonna happen. I have to wonder if Paul has some sort of massive personal flaw that further annoys people backstage. Is he really flatulent or something?

Are you SURE it wasn't Hansen? Because I'm pretty sure that's who I saw. Granted I had something in my eye. And I had been drinking. And that was the hour that my glasses were at LensCrafters...

...but I could SWEAR that was Hansen!

I seriously think the four man combination of Punk, Mysterio, Bourne and Kingston is at this point the most realistically entertaining group they could put together. The only person missing who is sitting RIGHT THERE would be Paul London.

If you'd explain using anything but "I just don't like it!" about Taker Edge, perhaps we'd get somewhere. It built off of everything in their long and awesomely put together feud perfectly, while building to great, impact spots rather than just going for a pure, hardcore shockfest.

I don't usually read full articles around here, having found them to be quite weak but thought I'd give yours a go and am afraid I decided to give up within the first point. Anyone who thinks that the adequate but not brilliant Edge vs Undertaker HIAC match is the hands down match of the year thus far kinda loses all credibility right then and there!

I always like your reviews as they come from a very similar mindset.

I was interested in your analysis of the 6 man tag and specifically Kane's killing of the heel heat segment. That's a really interesting observation and just makes me want for a promotion made up of all under 30s all over again. I hate the way the older WWE stars hog the limelight and wish there was actually a viable way for moving them off the cards after their time in the sun ...

oh and as for the main event. I'm thrilled Im not watching RAW right now, because that is exactly the kind of thing that would have turned me off for another 6 months.

Who the hell is this Stan Hansen dude you're always talking about anyway? Is that what JBL was called when he was in The New Blackjacks?

Punk did the “What time is it? It’s Clobberin’ Time!” on the way to the ring and I accidentally had kittens.

That line alone makes the column worthwhile. The rest was good..but really pales in comparison to that one line.
