WWE Championship Match: “The Moscow Mauler” Vladimir Kozlov vs. “The Game” Triple H ©
Kozlov starts off the match with a waist lock take down, HHH takes him down with a side headlock and we are seeing mat wrestling that we don’t normally see from either worker. The Mauler moves to use forearm shots and the “Harley Race type knee” (not my description JR’s description) as Trips comes off the ropes, face buster, followed up by a DDT. The Game delivers a hard right, covers and gets two. The Game delivers a spine buster, goes for the pedigree but Vlad blocks it. Trips is sent over the top and The Mauler goes outside with the ref counting. The Game off the ropes, gets caught, Vlad delivers a fall away slam and gets two. Kozlov delivers head butts to the chest, running power slam, cover and two. Vlad delivers a backbreaker and gets two, a second backbreaker, another cover and another two. The audience may be yelling “boring” but I’m not sure. Power slam by Kozlov, cover and two and we are back to mat wrestling. Kozlov is doing a great job, showing his wrestling talent and Trips isn’t doing a bad job either. Vlad delivers a belly-to-belly suplex but misses a charge to the corner, Trips delivers the pedigree but can’t cover and Vickie Guerrero shows up to tell everyone that it will be Triple Threat Match and says “he’s here” and it’s “The Rated R Superstar” Edge who enters the ring and waits for someone to get to their feet. HHH gets the spear, he covers but Jeff Hardy charges in and goes after Edge, outside for a chair, nails The Game when Edge gets out of the way, nails Kozlov with the chair and catches a spear from Edge. Edge covers HHH and he’s the winner. And what started out as a great match went to shall we say “hell” quickly.
Winner and new WWE Champion: Edge
We see a video of WWE World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho and then a video of the challenger for that title, John Cena.
WWE Heavyweight Championship Match: Y2J Chris Jericho © vs. John Cena
Cena is a hit in Boston and even more so when he takes off his shirt and the camera pans in on the scar on his throat. The bell rings and as the circle, Jericho trash talks, John goes for the FU and Chris bails out to the apron. Jericho drops Cena with a shoulder block off the ropes and John bails out. Cena comes back in swinging, back body drop, cover and one. Cena comes off the rope with an elbow drop, covers and Jericho kicks out. Cena delivers a throwback, goes to the top then changes his mind. Chris nails him with a DDT, covers and gets two. Jericho goes outside to deliver a boot to the head, the ref is outside to check on John, makes Chris get back in the ring and starts the count. Cena is back out on the floor, Jericho comes off with a drop off the apron, sends John into the steel steps, hard enough to send the steps spilling over sideways, back in the ring, cover and two. John misses off the ropes, Chris covers, gets two and goes back to work on Cena’s neck with a full nelson. John powers out again, Jericho misses the bulldog and Chris is down. Jericho off the ropes and Cena is down, misses the lionsault, John slams Jericho to the canvas and the audience is on their feet. Chris back to his feet, catching Cena in the Walls of Jericho but John powers out again. Jericho again applies the Walls of Jericho in the middle of the ring. John works his way to the ropes and makes it. Cena delivers the FU but can’t cover, both men are down. John makes it to cover but Jericho kicks out at two. Chris climbs up to the second rope and the two battle it out with Chris being sent back into the ring. John’s on the top and he comes off with a leg drop to the back of the head, Jericho to his feet, FU, but Chris uses an elbow and then a gut buster, covers and gets two. Chris has a cut on his forehead, John gets to his feet and drops him with a clothesline. Cena back to his feet and Jericho drops him with another clothesline. John has the FU (according to the announcer’s, looked like a crippler cross face) locked in, Jericho goes for a small package, Cena picks Jericho up and delivers the FU, covers and gets the three and the win.
Winner and New WWE World Heavyweight Champion: John Cena
HBK’s Team vs. JBL’s team was a good match and I actually enjoyed most of it. The Diva’s match was an embarrassment to female wrestlers but the audience seemed to enjoy it. I was not overly impressed with the casket match, not that it was terrible, but it wasn’t great. Batista’s Team vs. Orton’s Team had more interference from almost as many people outside as were actually in the match. This match was definitely not one of my favorites even though CM Punk and Cody Rhodes looked great. I was impressed that Trips remembered any actual wrestling holds but if JR doesn’t stop comparing to everyone who has ever been in the ring to all of Triple H’s moves, I’m going to scream. The match between HHH and Kozlov was a decent match until the pitiful ending. Jericho vs. Cena was a good match and although I wasn’t ready for Jericho to lose the title, it was a nice closer for this pay per view.
“Winner and new WWE Champion: Edge”
Say WHAT?
God damn WWE Creative…there better be a good excuse for this.
“And what started out as a great match when to shall we say “hell” quickly.”
WTF?
Norine, you may be a great person, but you’re a god awful writer.
For the love of christ……
Who does Edge have incriminating pictures of? Now we’re in for another year of screwjob title matches.
Not like it hasn’t been rubbed into the friggin ground already.
Edge/Jeff Hardy is a relatively new feud, Jeff can finally get a title match where it isn’t face vs. face. Kozlov can feud with Trips outside of the title situation, and thus continue being a monster without having to be champion.
Also when -> went
LOLZ
wat a stupid recap. the show was great, but the recaps at 411mania are better than this crap.
There’s nothing wrong with the recap as I feel Norine did a fine job. if you prefer the 411Mania recaps, then by all means go on over there and read them. No need to insult the writer here.
Doesn’t sound like the best show in the world to me, but I guess I’ll find out come DVD time.
I usually read 411 as well, but right now it’s slow as hell and the recap isn’t even up yet.
And Real MP, why post that man? You went to all the trouble of searching this out and just leave a dumbass comment like that?
Decent recap and up quick, cheers man!
new server holding up awesome!
Shakespeare couldn’t have made this PPV sound good.
Bad PPV. Casket match was god awful. Even Jericho couldn’t carry Cena with all that ring rust. HHH/Kozlov was horrible with a good finish. Team JBL/Team HBK was decent. The divas match was surprisingly good. Team Orton/Team Batista was pretty solid.
Edge’s Beard: “I’M IN UR PPVS STEALIN’ UR BELTZ!!!”
Thanks for the recap. I’m glad I didn’t consider spending money on this.
Oh yeah, 411 is awesome (sarcasm noted)…mind you their site CRASHED throughout MOST of the PPV!
Just proves why Pulse Wrestling is better…no crashes here, just perfect real-time recap.
“And what started out as a great match when to shall we say “hell” quickly.”
How would you have liked for me to have worded it: THE END OF THIS MATCH SUCKED BIG TIME?
It’s not so much WHAT you wrote, Norine; it’s HOW you wrote it.
“And what started out as a great match WHEN TO SHALL WE SAY “HELL” QUICKLY.”
“When to hell”? What does that mean? Annnnd… no need to make the phrase sophisticated, my good man, just say what you’ve got to say and move. “Shall we say, ‘hell’?” No, we shall say… butter.
“That match when to butter quickly.”
Keep it simple, and look at your stuff. It’s a decent recap, just hard to read at times.
I have no problem with spelling errors. If you’re trying to recap something as it happens it can be hard to get everything right.
I think the issue (and I don’t want to put words in anyone’s mouth) is when you make those “too cute for the room” jokes.
We get it. Edge was “sent to hell” at Summerslam. Tonight’s match sucked. Edge got involved. So the match went to hell. It’s a lame joke just begging for a rimshot followed by crickets chirping.
No offense, but I’d rather just have an informative recap and not silly jokes. Save the jokes for articles that are written after the event and you can take your time, please.
I think you guys are making a big issue of something as simple as a typo. When recapping in real-time, it’s not too far a stretch to imagine someone typing in “when” for “went.”
People make mistakes. Move on.
As for the PPV, my main WTF moment is realizing there are two returns in one night and two equivalent title changes. Kinda makes me wonder if there are big plans for this on the road to wrestlemania or if it was just done for the shock value. From a money-making perspective, I’d have thought they’d hype up Edge’s return in a different PPV to boost sales. Jeff Hardy already had a good buildup and people bought the PPV already to see Cena return.

I’d include a “ONETWOHEGOTHIMNOHEDIDN’TC’MONREF” for posterity’s sake…
I post on 411mania.com. Don’t mind Real MP. No one likes him there, either.
Geez Paul, why not come off like more of a homer?
I hit both sites pretty equally, and honestly I have more trouble getting this site to load than 411.
But what a petty cheapshot that was, by a writer no less. How professional.

as much as I love 411mania, Dino, I can’t name one PPV in the last year where the site weathered the storm and stayed up the entire night. This site has never had a problem during a pay per view.
Hell, 411mania is down RIGHT NOW as I type this.
I know Paul pretty well and I’m quite sure he was just joking.
Different reviews are to different people’s tastes, so long as you all read me, I’m not worried about it… and you know you all do.
Where’s Eric S to sum up the IWC community in his own special way?
Of course I wasn’t serious…those that took me seriously don’t know me very well.
What an easy cop out.
That this site often had so much trouble loading in the past is how you can clearly tell he’s joking, Dino
WWE.com has indicated Edge’s return to Survivor Series by making a poll about Edge new t-shirt. Edge return has totally killed the hype of Cena’s return. It was also a great divert by WWE by focusing on Cena’s return and made the fans thinking there is no other wrestler would return. I knew Edge will return at Survivor Series but not with that way. I thought maybe he would srew Hardy in triple threat match and made HHH retain WWE title.
