Christian Cage Update

TNA feels they have protected their interests regardless of whether or not Christian Cage stays with them or not. If he leaves, the Main Event Mafia beatdown angle writes him out. If he re-signs, he has an angle as one of the main babyface members of Samoa Joe’s group. There have been discussions in WWE about bringing Christian back but it is far from inevitable. Vince McMahon was the one who made the call to curb Christian’s push a few years back, even at one point suggesting that they could put a blue dot graphic over his face on TV. Other members of the creative team were more positive about Christian, particularly Brian Gerwtiz as he liked writing for him on Raw. Michael Hayes and Edge are both pushing to get Christian back onto Smackdown for a reunion angle but that remains to be seen. If they do bring him back and give him a big push it more than likely all depends on how the audience reacts to him from the get-go, since Vince would make a snap judgment on his value as a major act. A mediocre reaction would see Christian relegated to the midcard rather quickly, which could just as easily frustrate him in a similar way to how he felt when he jumped to TNA in the first place. However, signing with WWE would guarantee him more money and so it also depends on whether that would be enough to make him content even with the harder schedule.

  1. I think this is a tough choice for Christian. A great spot with either company isn’t secure at this point even though I think a lot of people (not in charge of creative) think it should be either way.

  2. Before Christian leaved WWE, the company has doubt whether he could be the main eventer or not. Many people think he should become the champion and get feud with Cena but the company afraid to do that. After he jumped to TNA, he proved that he could be a solid main eventer. It was like TNA was a try out to show what he is capable of. He has proved himself and WWE has seen his truly ability. And maybe when he come back, WWE will have no doubt to put him in a big match and carry the big gold around his waist.
