Pulse Wrestling’s Real-Time Smackdown Report 11/28/2008
By Norine Stice - November 28, 2008 | Email the author

It’s Friday night and we are back with Smackdown and the aftermath of the Survivor Series pay per view! Keep your browser on Pulse to find out who was a winner, who was a loser and who may be seeking revenge…

We open with a video of Survivor Series and the alleged injury Jeff Hardy sustained causing him to be out of the Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship. If you didn’t know, Edge showed up at the last minute to steal the title and the match between Triple H and Vladimir Kozlov, which could have been the best match on the Survivor Series card, was destroyed. In real time, Vickie Guerrero, Smackdown General Manager is now in the ring to introduce the new champion and her husband and aren’t we past that yet? This is basically a major run down of Jeff. Hardy shows up, Triple H shows up and they are stopped by security but Kozlov comes in the other side of the ring and wants his shot at the title. Vickie says there will be three Beat the Clock matches and Jeff’s match is next and we go to commercial break.

Smackdown is aired on MyNetworkTV and our ringside announcers are Jim Ross and Tazz.

Beat the Clock Match: Jeff Hardy vs. ”The” Brian Kendrick with Ezekiel Jackson

Hardy’s makeup appears to be patterned after military camouflage. The referee calls for the bell but Kendrick avoids a lockup, keeping away from Jeff and watching the clock. Hardy catches him with a roll up several times and but can’t get more than two, Brian bails out, Hardy stares down Zeke and gets back in the ring. Kendrick reenters the ring and Jeff goes after him full force again with several quick covers that only get two. Hardy continues a beat down of TBK who is back outside but Jeff goes out and brings him back in. There is 4:15 on the clock as Hardy covers and gets two. Kendrick delivers a neck breaker off the ropes and with 4:58 on the clock, we go to commercial break.

Back to the action with 7:50 on the clock, Brian has Jeff down on the mat but Jeff goes for a rollup again getting two. The clock shows 9:05 and Hardy is still in trouble with Kendrick keeping him down on the mat. Jeff hangs TBK up on the ropes and both men are down but Hardy is back to his feet and there is now 10:49 on the clock. Jeff delivers a face plant and again gets two. Hardy misses a twist of fate, but nails whisper in the wind but Brian gets a foot up on the ropes. Jackson tries to pull TBK out of the ring, Hardy hits him with a baseball slide and as 12:13, he catches Kendrick with the Swanton, gets the cover and the three.

Winner: Jeff Hardy with a Swanton bomb at 12:13

What we saw of the match was very fast paced but even without the commercial break, this was not the best match for either of these workers. Matt Hardy is backstage and he will face Vladimir Kozlov tonight in Kozlov’s Beat the Clock Match and we go to commercial break.

We have your Monday night Raw coverage live every week with Pulse Wrestling’s Real-Time WWE Raw Report!

We see a video of The Undertaker and his feud with The Big Show culminating in a Casket Match at Survivor Series. If you missed it, The Undertaker won the match by putting Show in the casket and closing the lid. JR tells us that next week Taker will face The Big Show inside a steel cage and then we see a plug for the Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 video game.

Brie and Nikki, The Bella Twins and Michelle McCool, Diva’s Champion vs. Natalya, Victoria and Maryse and we go to commercial break.

McCool and Victoria begin the match, they lock up and one of the twins gets the tag with a quick tag to the other twin who goes for a cover and gets two. Victoria tags in Natalya who comes in with forearms and a snap suplex, goes for the cover and gets two. Natalya applies a surfboard hold and tags in Victoria who delivers a side slam, covers and gets two. Maryse gets the tag, delivers a face plant, covers and gets one. The twin delivers a jawbreaker and tags in Michelle who goes for a cover but Victoria breaks it up. Maryse delivers a clothesline, bitch slaps a twin, the twin comes in and delivers a clothesline to McCool when Maryse ducks, Maryse delivers a rollup and gets the win.

Maryse, Natalya and Victoria with a roll up

I am never overly excited about diva matches and didn’t think Natalya got enough time in the ring. After the match is over, McCool gets in the twins’ faces, Maria comes out to break things up but gets shoved to the mat. Tazz reminds us that tonight Triple H faces Shelton Benjamin in a Beat the Clock Match and we go to commercial break.

Big high five to “All American” Stephen Stonebraker and CEW !

HBK and Triple H appear in a D Generation X commercial for buying WWE merchandise for Christmas gifts. WWE commercials within the WWE Smackdown show? How innovative is that?

Beat the Clock Match: “The Moscow Mauler” Vladimir Kozlov vs. Matt Hardy, ECW Champion

Hurripop appears to tell us that Hurricane Helms will appear on Smackdown next week. The ref calls for the bell and Matt is doing a little dance to avoid a lockup but he finally gives in and Vlad backs him into a corner. Hardy does a little dancing again after the clean break, delivers a boot to the midsection and applies a side headlock. Jeff is backstage watching the match on a monitor as Matt slides out of the ring with 9:41 on the clock. Hardy rolls back in to break the ref’s count then rolls right back out before coming back in to face his opponent. Vlad applies a waist lock and takes Matt down to the canvas but they are back to their feet, Hardy comes off the ropes and is stopped by The Mauler with a block and Hardy is back outside this time with Kozlov chasing him around the ring. 7:14 on the clock as Vlad nails Matt in the chest with numerous head butts and as Kozlov takes a boot to the jaw, we go to commercial break.

Back to the action, with 3:37 left on the clock, Vlad takes Hardy down for a cover getting two. Kozlov delivers numerous hard strikes as Jeff is still watching on the monitor. Vlad delivers a backbreaker and again gets two, Matt fights back, comes off the ropes, gets caught and Mauler delivers a fall away slam. With 2:07 on the clock, Kozlov covers for two, stands on the bottom rope and delivers another fall away slam, covers and Matt grabs the bottom rope. Vlad delivers a power slam and covers for two, another cover for two and there is :56 left on the clock. Matt delivers a side effect, Kozlov rolls out of the ring, the ref begins the count, Kozlov enters the ring, shoves Hardy who rolls out and the buzzer sounds.

Vladimir Kozlov did not beat Jeff Hardy’s time

Not a bad match and I’m actually starting to like The Moscow Mauler. We certainly could have done without the commercial break in the middle of the match. Jeff and HHH stare each other down backstage and we go to commercial break.

And I’m still on time in spite of my Internet connection deciding to take a nap!

Tag Team Match: Jesse and Festus vs. John Morrison and The Miz

The opening bell rings and Jesse has to control Festus before facing off with Miz. Jesse comes out with some hard hits, covers and gets a two before Miz unloads on him, hanging Jesse up on the ropes. Miz tags in Morrison and then catapults Jesse into a forearm. John tags in Miz who goes for a cover and gets two. Festus is pounding on the turnbuckle begging for a tag as Jesse blocks a move by Miz and both men are down. Miz tags in Morrison as Jesse tags in Festus with Festus delivering a squash and then a nice shoulder block before knocking Miz off.. John rings the bell and Jesse delivers a hell of a clothesline, takes the bell, rolls Morrison back in the ring and rings the bell turning Festus loose but Miz nails Jesse and rings the bell again. Miz and Morrison beat on Jesse on the floor with the ref out trying to break it up and then the ref calls the match.

Winners: Jesse and Festus via disqualification

This has got to be one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. Festus is tough but has anyone been watching Jesse? Did anyone see the clothesline he used to nail Morrison? And the fans get let’s play ring the bell. It isn’t even worth writing what happened after the match. We go to commercial break.

Ironboy kept his hair and made off with Vampiro, Jr.’s mask last Friday in Panama. WOOHOO! Congratulations to Ironboy for a somewhat bloody but awesome win! Check out LXN on YouTube at LXN507!

Raw Rebound: The beat down of Chris Jericho this week when he faced John Cena, the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Mr. Kennedy is backstage to plug his straight to DVD movie and to interview Trips who says he can beat Benjamin and beat Jeff’s time. We go to commercial break.

We see a replay of earlier this evening, including parts of the Beat the Clock matches of Jeff and Vladimir.

Beat the Clock Match – Time to beat: 12:13: “The Game” Triple H vs. “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin, US Champion

Trips goes for an early pedigree but Benjamin breaks away and applies a headlock but HHH again tries for the pedigree and Shelton rolls outside. He takes too much time, The Game goes out, slams him face first into the ring post, rolls him back in but Shelton is back on his feet and again Trips goes for the pedigree and when that doesn’t work, he tries the cross face submission hold with 10:02 left on the clock, Benjamin fights to the ropes and makes it. Shelton counters and delivers a neck breaker, HHH rolls out and we go to commercial break.

Back to the ring, with commercial breaks running rampant through the decent matches, Shelton as Trips down with 5:26 left as Jeff watches the monitor backstage. HHH is back to his feet, punching his way to a break, Benjamin comes off the ropes with a DDT, cover and only two but Shelton comes back with fists to the head before applying a chin lock. Trips counters a neck breaker and delivers a blow to Shelton’s head and both men are down. Shelton comes off the ropes and catches a knee, then a face buster, HHH covers and gets two with 3:25 on the clock as Benjamin rolls out and heads up the ramp with Trips hot on his trail to get him back in the ring. Shelton rolls out again, The Game sends him into the announcer’s table as Tazz and JR run for cover. HHH rolls Benjamin back in, but he rolls right back out with Trips sending him head first into the steel steps, Back inside the ring, The Game hits the spine buster, goes for the pedigree but Benjamin blocks and there is now 1:11 on the clock. Trips is back to his feet, he catches Shelton trying to get out of the ring, Shelton nails the ref who has gotten in the middle, Trips nails the pedigree but the ref is down. HHH tries to wake the ref up, covers again with :09 on the clock, the ref counts three as the buzzer goes off and the ref says that Trips has beat the clock. Referee Charles Robinson enters the ring to tell everyone that HHH did not win because three wasn’t counted until after the buzzer sounded. The timekeeper gets involved and it is announced that Trips and Jeff completed their matches at the exact same time.

Triple H with the same time as Jeff Hardy

I would have loved to see HHH and Benjamin wrestle but the match was decent. Jeff makes his way to the ring and the two have a verbal disagreement about the time of their matches and no one knows who will face Edge at Armageddon.

  1. Couldn’t disagree more about the Miz/Morrison/Festus festivities after the match. Yeah, the schtick is stupid, but this was very funny. They’ll have to end the bell gimmick at some point. Maybe Jesse gets tired of him, beats the shit out of him with the bell and that does it? Jesse is in DIRE need of going heel.
