10 Thoughts on Monday Night RAW
By Blatt - December 22, 2008 | Email the author
  1. TRISH STRATUS!
Wow. That was unexpected. I feel like the crowd didn’t give Trish the credit she is due. I had no doubts that she was going to be in shape, but she showed nearly no ring rust. The matrix back bend, the Lou Thesz press and the chick kick were top notch.
  2. RAW is CANADA
Who doesn’t love the Canadian broadcasts? The crowd is always hot, and for everyone that Vince doesn’t want them to be.
  3. Slap to the Face FTW!
Shawn Michael coming out and slapping JBL in the face is something that I wonder why it never happened more in matches with title shots on the line. It helps the Canadians hate Shawn Michaels, it pushes JBL into the fatal four way match and gets Rey out of a clean loss. It’s a win-win for everyone but Rey.
  4. Punk vs. Jericho
It’s interesting to see Punk play the role of the heel. It’s not unexpected, but it’s still fun to see. I’m waiting to see Punk turn on the WWE crowd like he did the ROH crowd, but the WWE should milk all they can from Punk’s run as a face.
  5. Boot vs. Face. Face rarely wins.
Lots of stiff looking kicks to the head tonight. Trish’s kick and Punk’s kicks looked awesome.
  6. Booo!
I love Canada. I wish more people would boo Cena regularly. It took the power of the Trish to combat that.
  7. Fast Forward
Seriously. Who watched that women’s tag match?
  8. Buy My Book! Buy My Book!
I like the DX promo pieces of the shop zone. Usually the WWE puts out some crap to promote their… crap, but this series of shorts have been pretty good even if DX isn’t together, Shawn is kayfabe bankrupt and working for JBL.
  9. A Monday with No McMahons
Everyone else noticed how good the show was without anyone named Stephanie on the show, right? I guess those McMahons are afraid of Canadians.
  10. Hi Def!
Cablevision finally got their heads out o their asses and flipped the switch on USA in HD for New York. Happy Hanukah to me!
