10 Thoughts on Smackdown – 2.13.09
by Victor Malar on February 13, 2009

Greetings IP Universe, and welcome to the Friday the 13th edition of 10 Thoughts.

Let’s see what the blue crew has in store for this, the hard sell of No Way Out edition of Smackdown.

1. Usual solid promo from Mr. and Mrs. Edge to kick things off, with the usual amount of venomous hatred from the paid spectators. Edge/Vickie is one of those things where maybe it didn’t look good on paper, and people thought “My God, this is gonna suck!”, but it certainly has proven itself to be gold every time out.

2. I know that with the opening promo, and the finish of the main event, it may have looked like they planted the seeds of Edge vs Big Show, but I’d be shocked if they actually went ahead with that for Wrestlemania Silver. If I had to put money on it, I’d say that Edge vs HHH is what we’ll see at Mania.

3. Decent match with MVP and Chavo, with Shelton running in for the DQ. JR and Tazz made it sound like Chavo’s throwing his hat into the U.S. Title mix, and on an upcoming SD, we’ll likely see Shelton/Chavo vs MVP and whoever he can find for his partner…partner.

4. Oh, to be MNM 2.0. They’ve got the Slammys, they’ve got the belts, and now they’ve got the girls as they beat the Colon Boyz for the 3rd time in 4 weeks (counting the 6-man from last week).

5. Methinks that at the draft, MNM 2.0 will be split up, with one going to Raw, and the other going to SD, as there’s nothing left for them to do tag wise.

6. Unlike Matt’s promo a couple of weeks ago, Jeff’s promo was helped by the music and video montages. It wasn’t a bad promo, but I felt that the extra technological sweetening was needed more here than it was then.

7. Truth gets the duke over Zeke. I think it’s time to put that feud to bed, and unless something unforeseen happens, Truth will be at Mania as part of Money in the Bank.

8. Not a bad little match between Maria and McCool, McCool brings something different to the table with her psychology based matches. With Eve running interference for Maria, I think that Michelle will recruit Maryse (remember her, she’s the champion in case you forgot), and we’ll see a little blond vs brunette tag action before too long.

9. The main event was actually pretty decent. It didn’t bog down too much and things were semi-energetic. Edge’s interference caused the match to be a no-contest.

10. No Way Out predictions–Swagger over Finlay, Orton over Shane, HBK over JBL, Cena wins the Raw Chamber match, and Edge sneaks out a win in the SD Chamber match (which will be the main event).

That’ll wrap things up for another week.

Beware of weirdos in hockey masks, and do something nice for your significant other tomorrow for Valentine’s Day.

See ya in 7.

Vickie Guerrero is quite possibly the most annoying person in the universe. I want to punch my TV every time I hear “Excuse me!” But, even with that, she’s an effective heel GM. Probably because she generates hatred in this manner. Also, Killings is terrible, but somehow over with the fans.

Vickie’s probably the most over person on the roster right now outside of Cena, considering the massive boos she gets everytime she opens her mouth. Crowds are BEGGING for the “Excuse me!” line. Gotta admit, she’s definately doing a decent job with what natural talent she has and everything she’s picked up from the Guerreros.
