10 Thoughts on ECW – 04.28.09
By Bones Barkley - May 1, 2009 | Email the author

01. ECW has apparently become a two match show and by god the brand is so much better for it. Between WGN and Sci-Fi, the wrestlers on the ECW brand are finally getting the time they deserve to showcase their abilities.

02. The WWE on the whole has shifted towards a work rate intensive style over the past number of months but with work horses like Evan Bourne, Tyson Kidd, Jack Swagger, and Christian on the show, as I’ve said before, ECW is the best pure wrestling show on television.

03. Christian is the best singles champion currently on the WWE roster. Between Randy Orton, who can cut a mean promo but can’t wrestle worth a damn, and Edge, who again is a great personality but still has lousy overall matches, Christian is easily the champion to tune in for. His matches since his return have all been good to straight out GREAT. His first match against Swagger was fantastic.

04. Tiffany sucks.

05. Tyson Kidd is the new Shawn Michaels. His selling is absolutely the best in the entire company behind only HBK himself. Hell I’d put his selling as better than most people in the American professional wrestling industry.

06. Tyson Kidd vs. Finlay is the best match Finlay has had since forever. Quite frankly I think it had more to do with Finlay finally having something who could actually work instead of Kidd carrying the Irishman. Kidd’s work on the leg was fantastic and provided a change of pace from the work Bourne usually does. I get the feeling that the company might showcase Bourne and Kidd on alternative weeks.

07. Vladamir Kozlov sucks.

08. Gregory Helms returning to ECW is a nice sight. However Paul Burchill’s voice is too slight to ever be taken seriously in the WWE.

09. I can’t believe Christian carried Dreamer to the match we got. It was actually pretty good. Fast paced. Great work by Christian on the arm. Decent selling by Dreamer, who looked like he was a bit winded halfway into the match. Christian has really benefitted from his time in TNA.

10. Swagger interupting the main event was the logical move, set up by the promo work at the start of the show. Normally these run-ins are retarded but Swagger really looked awesome in taking out Dreamer and Christian. And he actually got over with the NYC crowd. Nice!
