10 Thoughts on TNA iMPACT! – 6.11.09
By Jon Bandit - June 11, 2009 | Email the author

1) It has come to my attention that some people think I’m too negative, too harsh on TNA. Well I’m going to combat that. With Slammiversary just around the corner, over the next few weeks I’ll be talking about all the good things in TNA over the years, up to and including today. Let’s see how it goes.
2) I think my favorite moment ever in TNA is the main event of the one-and-only Unbreakable pay-per-view. It was the first time the X-Division got to main event one of the monthly pay-per-views, and Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, and Christopher Daniels delivered the TNA Match of the Year. That remains the high point in the storied history of the X-Division.
3) The first Ultimate X match between Chris Sabin, Michael Shane, and Frankie Kazarian was a ton of fun. The gimmick has certainly stuck.
4) I will always maintain that Monty Brown represented a big missed opportunity for TNA to create a star for their brand. I really liked Monty Brown.
5) AJ Styles and Abyss could probably wrestle each other a thousand times and it would always be fun.
6) The same can be said for Samoa Joe and AJ Styles. For some reason their matches in TNA were always way better than their matches in ROH.
7) Raven’s return in January of 2003 was awesome. His title match with Jeff Jarrett was TNA’s biggest match to that date.
8) America’s Most Wanted. James Storm and Chris Harris may be on divergent paths right now, but they totally took a nothing idea and made their tag team work for a number of years, as both babyfaces and heels. Good for them.
9) When LAX first came out as militant thug heels, with Konnan as the mouthpiece, and with Hernandez instead of Machete or Apolo, they were the hottest heels TNA may have ever had. I miss that LAX.
10) Alex Shelley is someone I first saw wrestle in his first few months in the business, and I’ve always been a fan. It’s been really great to see him achieve the success he has.

  1. I actually enjoy your total and brutal honesty when it comes to TNA’s weekly Impact. I’m sorry to TNA fans, but 95% of the product really sucks ALL of the time.

Jon, your 10 thoughts on TNA are actually some of the funniest things and it is one of the columns I look most forward to every week.

THIS one is not one of your better ones and I hope you don’t mind a little constructive criticism. Feel free to offer me any as well. Showcasing the best things in TNA history doesn’t really say a thing about the weekly show which is what I look forward to you discussing.

You see, you hit the nail on the head every time. There are some good things each week or at PPVs and you always pinpoint them. But then all the things that are wrong, it is almost as if you are reading my mind and have the ability to showcase what you think.

While I agree with just about every single point you made this week…I hope you go back to your regular format of just being truthful about the shittiness that is TNA.

Keep up the good work my friend.

  2. Thought number one isn’t a thought on Impact, its an intro. This really seemed like it was mailed in and is complete waste of time.

  3. If there was anything remotely interesting about this week’s IMPACT, it would’ve been worth mentioning, but there wasn’t. I think the TNA in-ring debut of Tara (formerly Victoria) was good & the KOTM qualifier match between Angle & Sting was decent until the Matt Morgan run-in, which really wasn’t needed at all.

  4. So to prove that you’re not entirely negative on TNA, you pick nine moments and ideas that are all at least 3 years old? Huh.

  5. I remember when a “10 Thoughts” column was solely 10 thoughts about that particular current show.

This is why I don’t follow all the various “10 Thoughts” around here anymore.
