RoH on HDNet returns with a huge show featuring the first ever HDNet fight without Honor and a huge Tag Team Title defense that features the American Wolves defending against the makeshift team of Bryan Danielson and Tyler Black. These four had an awesome match on DVD. Can the TV version live up to it? Read on to find out…
We start as usual with Dave Prazak hyping the show.
Fight without Honor: Jimmy Jacobs with
Brodie Lee and MsVhif vs. Poison Red Delirious
Jacobs sends the rest of his stable to the back to get this party started. This is all brawl all the time. Jimmy dons the crimson mask pretty early on. The hatred is definitely evident between these two. Jimmy Jacobs is one of the best on the roster at big brawls and feud ending matches. This may not be his best work, but it is a fun match with a lot of violent. Delirious gets the win via Shadows over Hell through a table on the outside. Jacobs is considerably disappointed in himself after the match. The crowd chants “Disappointment clap clap clapclapclap. He stabs himself with his spike in response. This was fun, maybe a little on the short side.
Winner: Delirious via pinfall
Kyle Durden is in the back with Danielson and Black and they talk about winning the tag team titles. Tyler Black doesn’t need to ever talk again….EVAR!!!
We get a quick interview from Matt and
Jeff Nick Jackson hyping their debut.
The Young Bucks of Matt and Nick Jackson vs. Sal Rinauro and Brandon Day
The Bucks waste no time going to crazy dives and big dropkicks. It is certainly a sight to behold. This is of course your requisite squash and the Bucks win with the 450 Splash/Moonsault combo. Yay.
Winners: The Young Bucks via pinfall
Kyle Durden is in the back with the very European Claudio Castagnoli. He challenges Brent Albright to a flag match.
We get ads for Bret Hart and Ric Flair appearing for RoH in Toronto.
We are treated to footage of Austin Aries winning the RoH title for a second time and cutting a quick promo about how awesome he is. I agree.
The American Wolves now have to deal with Kyle Durden and they put some hype on the event.
Ernie Osiris with Prince Nana vs. Brent Albright
I am gonna go out on a limb here and say that this is going to be another squash. It is. Albright wins with the half nelson suplex.
Winner: Brent Albright via pinfall
After the match Albright responds to Claudio’s Flag Match challenge. He responds with Lee Greenwood lyrics.
TV Main Event RoH Tag Team Title Match: “American Dragon†Bryan Danielson and Tyler Black vs. The American Wolves of Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards ©
Nigel McGuinness comes out before the match still looking like Turkish from Snatch. He addresses the challengers who were also top contenders to Nigel’s belt. Nigel sews the seeds of discontent between Black and Dragon. Then the Wolves come out and the match is underway.
The basic story of the match is that Dragon and Black are better individual wrestlers, but the strength of the Wolves comes from their teamwork. The match has a slow start but the action is exciting. Neither team can get an advantage for the above mentioned reasons. The finishing sequence is suitably hot and heavy, but the finish itself is pretty weak. Danielson tells Black to go up for the Phoenix Splash but Eddie gets on the apron. Danielson knocks Edwards off, but that also disrupts the balance of Tyler on the top rope. Tyler and Dragon argue allowing Tyler to get rolled up by Richards for the win. The match was really good, but the finish took something away from it. Danielson and Black argue after the match and Tyler gets a slap across his face for his troubles.
Winners: The American Wolves via pinfall
Big Andy Mac’s Big Andy Final Thoughts: This show was good, but could have been a whole lot better. The two squashes could have gone away in favor of extended time for the marquis matchups. Oh well. This show is worth seeing, for sure.
