- Jeff Hardy comes out wearing an eye patch to a huge pop. He cuts a short promo about how his eye injury is about as realistic as C.M. Punk’s one.
- Kane beats Jeff Hardy with a chokeslam. Punk’s music plays and he comes out to observe from the stage, which distracts Hardy and leads to the finish.
- Dolph Ziggler beats John Morrison. Before the match, Morrison meets with Teddy Long to confirm that he could challenge the winner of the world title match at Night of Champions. Ziggler wins with a roll-up whilst pulling the tights.
- Melina & Eve Torres beat Michelle McCool & Layla when Melina pins Layla.
- C.M. Punk cuts a promo on Jeff Hardy, who is at ringside to do commentary on Punk’s match. He says:
“Are you happy Jeff? You come out earlier wearing an eye patch mocking me? I could have been seriously injured because of you! You see this right here? This is Dyhydroxy Sulfate — I have to put it in my eye three times a day. It’s the only foreign substance I’ll allow in my body. Now Jeff, I know you know a lot about prescription medication but, see, to get this legally you have to get it from a doctor. If you want to be like me, with your little eyepatch, instead of doing that, why don’t you try living a clean lifestyle, a straight edge lifestyle? Jeff, you have two strikes, do you know how many I have? ZERO. Do you know how many times I’ve been suspended Jeff? ZERO. Do you know how many times I’ve been to a rehab facility in my life? ZERO. Do you know what your chances are for beating me at Night of Champions Jeff? ZERO”
- C.M. Punk beats Khali by DQ after Kane turns up with a chair and fights with Khali.
- Hart Dynasty beat Cryme Tyme with the Hart Attack.
- Rey Mysterio beats Chris Jericho in about 15 minutes to retain the Intercontinental Title. Mysterio gets a huge pop from the crowd. Edge and Dolph Ziggler attack Mysterio after the match.
Looking forward to seeing that future promos like that from Punk.
LOVING the CM Punk promo!
CM Punk really sounds like he’s starting to express himelf better and seems much more comfortable with a heel persona. He could almost draw as much heat as the Dudley Boyz back in ROH, IWA Mid-South days. Also thank God they put Dynasty over Cryme Tyme this time.
