John Cena on Turning Heel
By Iain Burnside - July 10, 2009 | Email the author

John Cena spoke to ESPN about the possibility of him turning heel in WWE. He said “That’s the thing, I’m one of those guys who on any given day can be booed out of any building. I’m the only guy who is neither a good guy or a bad guy. That’s because I’m genuinely myself. Certainly, guys in our industry try to sway the audience one way or the other, but like I said, I go out there and I’m me. I have certain things that I stand for, certain things that I believe in, and if you don’t like it and you tell me to go to hell, I think that’s your God-given right as a fan. It’s one of those deals where I’m that one guy who is outside of that realm of good guy, bad guy. I’m just me, and it elicits a response both positive and negative.”

Cena also spoke about filming 12 Rounds, his fear of heights and how that affects him during Ladder Matches, being a PG-rated role model and more.

  1. So I suppose Jericho, Edge and Orton never get cheered then and Triple H never gets booed? Ridiculous.

There are plenty of WWE performers that have shades of grey in their characters which illicit mixed responses from different crowds. It’s been that way for a very long time, to say that he is the only one is just plain arrogant.

That comes from someone who respects the hard work that John Cena does for WWE too.

  2. Please – Cena’s a good guy that a portion of the fans just plain don’t believe in, simple as that…in a simpler time the WWE would’ve just turned him heel completely and be done with it.

Trying to play it off like he’s some kind of transcendant wrestler just makes him look like a tool – the “Corporate Champion” that the Rock was merely playing at just ten years ago.

  3. In fact, I’ll bet a main reason the WWE have kept John Cena smack dab in the middle is the same reason the WWE relies upon the same few people as their main event players: because the main competition (TNA, ROH) still have a long ways to go before they’re actually competition. We wouldn’t see such things when WCW was right there breathing down Vince’s neck…

  4. Yo,Yo how would ya’ll like to se John Cena, Randy Orton and Dwayne The Rock Johnson in a movie togther. The guys are in the Marines rescuring P.O.W’s from Alcatraz Island.

If anyone likes this movie idea jump on this page and type what you think.

Useing Renny Harlin as the Director.

  5. Uh, it sounds absolutely horrible. For multiple reasons. And considering the Rock wants little to nothing to do with WWE anymore (who can blame him considering their movie output), it’s a moot point.

And seriously, you enjoy Randy Orton’s acting talent so much on RAW you want to see it for 90 minutes? You’re a sick man, Mr. T.

By the way, who started keeping POW’s in Alcatraz?
