It has been noted that Shane McMahon’s wife, Marissa, who has worked for WWE in public relations, did not want Shane to work the same long hours and be consumed by the same obsession with the business as his father. These days it appears that Triple H, who does share that obsession with the business as well as bodybuilding, has become more like Vince McMahon’s son. He and Stephanie live in Westport, which is far closer to Vince’s residences that Shane’s house in Manhattan. Stephanie is not on the road much these days except for PPV weeks, where she attends that show and the following TV tapings. In the past, both of them traveled with a nanny and a bodyguard in a touring bus or on the family’s private jet. When she is around she tends to be the one who takes the brunt of Vince’s frustrations. When she is not around, everyone and anyone else is the focus of his anger. Bucky Palermo, a long-time confidante, was at Bragging Rights and asked to speak to Shane. Stephanie told him that “He doesn’t work here anymore” and, when asked what had happened, said “I don’t know.” Michael Hayes brought up the idea of doing an on-screen angle to write Shane out of the promotion but only in front of the other writers, not in front of the McMahons. The creative team in general is treating it like a taboo subject not to be discussed.

There is a lot of concern that Edge will not be able to return in time for WrestleMania 26.
