WWE Superstars recap for 11/05/09

Santino Marella vs. Chavo Guerrero: Santino looks to make use of the cobra early but after a slap to the face from Chavo, he attacks with a couple of armdrags instead. Santino continues the attack with a few slams into the corner turnbuckles and a vertical suplex. But Chavo is able to get in a cheap shot and heels it up for a bit to take control of the match. Santino counters a shot into the ropes with a backslide but Chavo quickly kicks out, hits a dropkick and uses a side headlock to regain control. But the power of the cobra drive Santino to fight back as he nails a series of punches and a hiptoss before missing a fist drop. Chavo heads to the top rope but finds that his foe is out of range and climbs down to reformulate his attack. However as he goes to grab Santino he gets rolled up for the three count. Santino wins and Chavo’s misery continues.

Primo Colon vs. Jack Swagger: Primo taunts and attacks early using his quickness to take his larger foe down a couple of times. But after sending Swagger into the corner with a head scissors, Jack is able to catch one of his attacks and takes control by dropping a couple of elbows in the corner. After wearing him down with a submission hold, Swagger nails a big belly to belly suplex. Jack lifts Primo up on his shoulders for another slam but it gets reversed into a pinning attempt. The Colon without the awesome hair hits a chop off the top rope and tries to keep the advantage with a running attack off the ropes but he gets caught by Swagger. Jack wins the reversal sequence and nails his gutwrench powerbomb for the pinfall victory. Have they given his finisher an official name yet?

Tyler Reks vs. Paul Burchill: Katie Lea accompanies her brother to ringside and I’m guessing that she will lose her unofficial “Scarlet Witch” nickname now that Striker has moved to Smackdown. Reks wins the lock-up battle at the beginning but Burchill quickly brawls his way into control. Paul drops Reks on the second rope and maneuvers the ref away so that his sister can get a shot in before restarting his own attack with a neckbreaker. Tyler is able to make a brief comeback with an inverted vertical suplex but is unable to follow up due to a bit of interference from the ref as Burchill plays possum. When Reks finally does move back in for the attack, Burchill is able to quickly hit his Danger-buster (jackknife suplex) maneuver and pick up the pinfall victory.

Your Superstar video package of the week is for Yoshi Tatsu from ECW.  However, he is not the actually “Superstar of the Week”, that honor goes to Alicia Fox. So if you are trying to use that bit of information to win tickets to WrestleMania 26 by heading over to WGN’s website make sure you enter the correct person I guess.

Fit Finlay vs. Chris Jericho: As Finlay enters we get a replay of the attack he suffered last week on Smackdown at the hands of Drew McIntyre. Jericho bails out of the ring and stalls after the bell rings and continues to stall a bit once reentering the fray before hitting a cheap shot and starting his attack. Jericho gets Fit down on the mat in a headlock but is forced to break the hold when Finlay starts to bend his fingers in ways they aren’t supposed to go. Jericho goes after Fit’s legs on an exchange and tries to lock in the Walls of Jericho but cannot. Finlay ends up getting tossed to the outside and Jericho tries to hit his springboard dropkick from the turnbuckle but Fit moves and gets him tangled in the ring skirt as we go to a commercial break.

When we return to live taped action, Jericho has control of Finlay down on the mat and we learn via replay that he has the steel steps to thank for his current advantage. Fit counters with a pinning predicament but Y2J escapes and nails an enziguri. Jericho hits a slingshot attack on the ropes and stops to celebrate but Finlay rises and hits a clothesline. However Finlay’s comeback is a short one and he soon finds himself locked in a dragon sleeper. Jericho misses an attack in the corner and Finlay begins his comeback anew and is able to hit his version of Rolling Thunder for a two count. Jericho is then able to lock on the Walls of Jericho but after a brief struggle, Finlay is able to reach the ropes. Fit gets Jericho back on his shoulders possibly for a Celtic Cross attempt, but Chris is able to latch onto the ropes to escape. Finlay then charges in for another attack and runs right into the Codebreaker and Jericho covers him for the three count and the win.
