Vancouver Makes Bid For Wrestlemania
By Brad Curran - February 8, 2010 | Email the author

PW Torch’s James Caldwell reports that Vancouver, host city of this year’s Winter Olympics, is looking to host Wrestlemania 29 or 30. A committee has been formed to put forth a bid for the show. They’ve set up an official website (which is down at the moment) and Facebook page to promote their candidacy.

  1. At least for “WrestleMania”, a lack of snow won’t be an issue.

  2. I love the idea on cities bidding for Wrestlemania. I think Seattle was the first to outright approch the WWE and say “Hey, give us Wrestlemania!”

And it makes economic sense. Some cities benefit from having the Olympics, such as Atlanta. But places like Sydney and Barcelona are still paying off their debts from hosting the Olympics. Vancouver will be too. Wrestlemania could go a long ways from getting there.

  3. If Vancouver gets a Wrestlemania you can all donate to my PayPal so I can cover it for you live. And pay for my retinal replacement surgery after I rip them out upon sitting through a WWE PPV live.

  4. Hope it’s not Wrestlemania 30. That should be in MSG.

  5. I agree that 30 should be at MSG, it is tradition.

  6. I think Seattle should be getting an upcoming Wrestlemania. I read their CFO’s quote last year that Seattle’s Wrestlemania was the most profitable they had.
