TNA News: Hogan, Carter Announce Impact’s Move To Monday Night
by Brad Curran on February 15, 2010

At a press conference today at the Impact Zone, TNA announced that Impact will go head to head with Monday Night Raw starting on March 8th. PW Torch’s James Caldwell has a full recap, including a transcript of the press conference. Video can be found here.

Hulk Hogan and TNA President Dixie Carter delivered the announcement. When asked why they chose to go head to head with WWE as opposed to staggering their time slot, Carter said they could tweak things in the future, while Hogan talked about having a wrestler’s mentality of wanting to go head to head with WWE and see who was better. Hogan also said he doesn’t expect a response from Vince McMahon because “they live in their own world up there”, but he does think that the wrestlers in WWE are cheering TNA on because it gives them a viable place to work. Oh, and he compared TNA to church (in that it’s a place that people want to be).

This just sounds to me as the final splutter before they hit the side of a mountain.

Hulk Hogan seems to “live in his own little world up there” if he thinks his current version of TNA will dominate the Monday Night Wars ratings, for the only way for Hogan and Dixie Carter to successfully pulls this off if they can get Stone Cold Steve Austin into TNA and have that longly awaited Hoagn Vs. Austin showdown, then they’ll be in the finanical black if that were to even happen(but I doubt it,since Hogan is too(nWo)”Souled Out”[and stuck in 1997]).

Given the consistantly dwindling numbers in worldwide Church attendance Hogan’s comparison was apt, since the number of people willing to sit through an entire episode of Impact is also steadily dwindling.

This is the proverbial “final nail in the coffin” for TNA, folks.

As much as I want TNA to succeed (they have the talent), as long as the ones in charge are stuck in a time warp, they are doomed.

What was it about those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it?
