10 Thoughts on Monday Night RAW for 02.22.2010 featuring John Cena, Batista, Vince McMahon, Randy Orton, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels et al
by Kevin Innarelli on February 22, 2010

Welcome to 10 Thoughts!  Last night was Elimination Chamber and that should make for an interesting RAW.

  1. Always good to see Chris Jericho.  His smug opening segment was a thing of beauty and the Edge entrance was perfect.  No banter, just a spear and Edge letting Jericho know who his opponent is at Wrestlemania.
  2. John Cena says he got screwed.  WAAAAA!  His character was never this whiny before.
  3. The new Divas Champion was finally crowned after a tournament of lousy wrestling.  This final really exemplified the terrible quality of wrestling on the women’s RAW roster.  I think this is my first thought ever about the Divas and hopefully it’ll be my last.
  4. I hate Jewel.  She just annoys me to no end.  I don’t even have a reason for it.
  5. Randy Orton cleaning out Legacy was awesome.  This internal feud has been in danger of going on too long but pulling the trigger on it now makes a lot of sense.  Expect a triple threat or handicap match at Wrestlmania.  The RKO on the outside was sold expertly by Ted DiBiase, Jr.
  6. The Shawn Michaels-Undertaker confrontation was a lot tamer than I thought it would be.  I hoped Undertaker would say no to the match request.  Just to remind me of the joke “Masochist to Sadist – ‘Hurt Me’  Sadist to Masochist ‘No’”.  I like the Career vs. Streak angle though.  Looks like McMahon is going to give Michaels a bigger sendoff than he did to Ric Flair.  You know, to get THAT taste out of his mouth.
  7. Captain Charisma on RAW is exactly where he belongs.  He’s going to be great in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.  Here’s hoping he gets a world title shot in the near future.
  8. Wendi Richter is a great choice for the Hall of Fame.  I remember as a kid being totally enthralled with that feud with Moolah.   Everyone forgets that Cyndi Lauper was a HUGE star during that time.  It really helped bring wrestling to the huge heights it reached in the 80s.  Roddy Piper is a good choice to induct her as well. (Not as good as Cyndi Lauper but good nonetheless.)
  9. They started the main event at 9:04 Mountain Time.  As if we didn’t know there would be shenanigans.
  10. Well, it’s official.  We get Batista vs. Cena for not only the “star personality” portion of Wrestlemania (with Bret Hart) but also as RAW’s main event.  I’m not happy about that.  Couldn’t they go to the trouble of creating two storylines?

Hope you had fun reading.  See you next week, kids.

I thought Jewel was natural as anything and seemed to be genuinely enjoying the goofiness of it all. I suppose we’ll have to agree to disagree.

I can’t stand “Captain Charisma”. I has to be one of the most biggest jokes in the WWE. His nick name is the opposite of his character’s personality. The only other character that makes me throw up in my mouth when I see is Carlito. I don’t even know where to begin on how pathetic he is. I have no idea why he is still on RAW. His trade mark apple scandal is super stupid enough, but his die hard triple cheese burger training physique to boot makes him the all time current undisputed champion of ridonkulus sucktards since the former champ Super Crazy. Anyway, I could say much more, but I will save it for another comment……….cool website by the way. Later………. J.B.

With all this going on last night all I kept wondering….where’s Triple H? And Sheamus for that matter. This Wrestlemania is asinine in booking from the RAW title perspective. Dave and John didnt need a title to make it any more compelling, because quite frankly, it’s not compelling. Two dudes I personally don’t give a crap about. So does Sheamus go in the Money in the Bank? Does Triple H sneak his way into a 3 way with Taker and Shawn (lame)? I cannot think of anyone else he would pick a fight with right now. It just doesnt make any sense.

And I really think that switching both belts a month before Mania is just retarded. Taker should have dropped his to Jericho at the Rumble (screw the match with Rey) and if they wanted the gold spinner on Dave, they should have done it then, too. Didnt the elimination chamber used to be 6 guys, no title on the line, for the rights to a title shot at Mania just like Rumble?

Maybe I’m insane, but that makes for a better picture. The championships should be solidified at Rumble, with no defense until Mania. OK. I am just irritated right now. Enough!

To Joe: No, every Elimination Chamber in the history of that match’s existence, has had a world title on the line. And changing the world title the ppv before the big event has been a staple almost every year before Wrestlemania. It’s the best way they can set up marquee matches and still have over a month to build them. They purposely leave a lot of time between what was No Way Out (Elimination Chamber) and Wrestlemania, then they announce the matches early so they can just concentrate on build. Wrestlemania is the one ppv each year where they actually do the right amount of build, and have the foresight to book matches that people want to see. That’s why they’ve already announced 4 matches.

Wrestling was crap in the early 80′s until Cyndi Lauper got in to it. She’s the reason that wrestling is as big as it is today. When she got together with the late, great Captain Lou Albano, and started the Rock n Wrestling connection on MTV everything exploded. Wrestlemania happened because of her. I’m really happy that Wendi Richter is being inducted in to the WWE Hall of fame. Cyndi should be inducted as well.

The two Elimination Chamber matches at No Way Out 2008 had no world titles on the line. They were #1 contender matches for world title shots at WrestleMania.

I dont really think that McMahon knows how bad he is messing up messing with Cena the way that he is because eventually he is going to piss him off enough that he will walk im sure and then what will McMahon do right now Cena is his money maker because he appeals to all off the crowds. Us ladies because well… he’s HOTT, the military because he is a major supporter and the children because he Loves kids and thats obvious i mean look what he does for the make a wish foundation.

That attack was a bit on the “over-the-top side.” I mean, come on, the man is working with a back injury here. He’s got bulging disks and needs surgery, yet they keep focusing on his back every time they script an attack.

    When’s he gonna get his?

    Also, Cena…whiny? lolSmarksAreLame.

COME ON GET SOMEONE ON NXT!!!!! Jericho bust out the LION TAMER on Danielson!!!!!! I’m SO FREAKIN HAPPY!!! GET SOMEONE ON THE SHOW RECAP NOW!!! They had a very stiff match and I’m afraid Danielson has a legit rib injury.

  • Some dude named Tory

Whoah. I’m excited too, but you gotta calm down.

  • Damnurfine

lol, I hear you. My message was more to the site, than to other posters. I feel like they should be on their game when a new show debuts. I’d add that since the guy this page has told me was the best in the world was the focus of the show, I’m very anxious to see how they felt about him. CR posted the recap and I got my comments out so I’m good now.
