Randy Orton Injury Update
by Mike Gojira on December 30, 2011

As reported, Randy Orton was injured during his match with Wade Barrett on Smackdown. Here’s the official update from WWE.com and WWE physician Dr. Michael Sampson:

“Randy (Orton) suffered a herniated disc on the L4-L5 level on the left side, and that’s resulting in pain and weakness down his leg. He’s going to need some time off for rehab, anti-inflammatory medications and physical therapy.”

Early reports indicate he’ll be out for at least six months, but that would be if he undergoes surgery. Otherwise it would only be a few weeks.

Looks like Gojira and I had the same timing within minutes!

I think Orton’s “Wellness” violation will either remain unreported or they will push out something late tonight after SmackDown airs.

Translation, he’ll work with a shit-ton of painkillers through WrestleMania and then take off until around Survivor Series to heal.
