The Wrestling Observer posted comments from former WCW wrestler Bill Goldberg about fast-rising WWE superstar Ryback. Ryback — who will be headlining WWE’s Hell In A Cell PPV against WWE Champion CM Punk for the title — has been compared to Goldberg ever since he started dominating WWE competition, and Big Hungry even went as far as to rip Goldberg’s wrestling ability.
So what did Goldberg have to say about Ryback? On the 4th & Pain show, he took a different track than Ryback, saying:
“I’m flattered that throughout his rise people have been chanting my name. I don’t think it’s a knock on him whatsoever.”
“I take no offense to it. To be compared against a guy right now who is (on top), who hopefully will be a major superstar for these guys is kind of flattering.”
“For people to still be chanting my name six years, seven years, eight years removed from the business–that’s a huge honor. Any comparisons in the positive note is an honor for me.”
