CB’s World: 2013 Pro Wrestling Wish List for WWE (CM Punk, Brock Lesnar, The Rock, John Cena, Kofi Kingston)
by CB on December 31, 2012

Happy New Year everyone! To celebrate the flipping of the calendar to 2013 after what was a very crazy 2012 in both American culture, pop culture and pro wrestling, I’d like to look ahead a little bit and give you my pro wrestling wish list for WWE when it comes to the Royal Rumble, the Road to WrestleMania and some of WWE’s top stars such as WWE CM Punk, The Rock, The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, John Cena and others.

Away we go:

CB’s World: 2013 Pro Wrestling Wish List for WWE

Limit: 10 Wishes

1. WWE Champion CM Punk STAYS WWE Champion at the Royal Rumble … and retains at WrestleMania (see wish #2 for more details).

2. Kofi Kingston surprisingly wins the Royal Rumble, faces CM Punk and The Rock in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, then continues feuding with CM Punk after The Rock leaves again. This can really establish Kofi as one of their top faces and it gives something for CM Punk to do after WrestleMania season ends.

3. The Rock comes back this time around to put OTHER PEOPLE over. It doesn’t make sense for Rocky to keep coming back and winning when he’s just a part-time guy, so I say it’s time for Punk’s title reign to get an even bigger endorsement than it already has: a landmark win over The Great One at BOTH the Royal Rumble and the Grand Daddy Of Them All.

4. Brock Lesnar comes back to face …

5. The Undertaker … at WrestleMania.

This is the match that would generate the most mainstream buzz, and I’d much rather have Brock look dominant during the Road to WrestleMania and lose to Taker than to see a Brock – HHH rematch that just won’t sell tickets and seems anemic by comparison.

6. The Shield dominate the early stages of this year’s Royal Rumble match — much like CM Punk did a couple of years back — before getting eliminated by Ryback or Orton or whoever.

7. Dolph Ziggler finally cashes in his Money In The Bank Briefcase and becomes World Heavyweight Champion. I just hope it’s not at the expense of Alberto Del Rio, but I have a feeling we will get Del Rio vs. Ziggler a lot in the coming year in multiple feuds over the Big Gold Belt. Unless, of course, they run with one of my bigger ideas a little further down below.

8. Mick Foley gets inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame …

9. … by Terry Funk. I know it’s tempting to have The Rock induct Mick should Mrs. Foley’s Baby Boy get the nod for induction at Madison Square Garden, but if anyone should induct the Hardcore Legend it should really be Funk. If they must go with a “WWE” name, then I’d prefer Jim Ross to do it over Rocky.

10. The New Age Outlaws come back on a semi-regular basis to mix it up with some of the newer, younger tag teams that could learn a thing or two from them. Feuds between the Outlaws and “The Prime Time Players” or “Team Rhodes Scholars” would be fun to watch, and it would be interesting to see how those teams perform against a veteran team like Road Dogg and Billy Gunn. Of course, an angle with Team Hell No would also be a whole lot of fun to watch, so I’d be good with either of those scenarios.

And since I’ve run out of wishes, here’s one honorable mention lest I forget John Cena:

In 2013, I’d like John Cena to continue to be nowhere near the WWE Championship or CM Punk. I have no idea how this would actually happen considering Cena is always everywhere and I doubt they’ll just push him to the side (especially when The Rock comes back).

But then I figured it out, at least for MY Wish List:

11. Move John Cena to SmackDown, have him feud with Dolph Ziggler, mix in some Alberto Del Rio, and have Ziggler / Del Rio win EVERY TIME.

Who knows, maybe it can even lead to a Cena heel turn at some point, some how, some way, in 2013.

That’s all from me — HAPPY NEW YEAR — CB.

As much as I love Kofi, and as much as I think they’ve missed the boat on him before, AND as much as I’d love to see him in that main-event… what you’re suggesting wouldn’t work. The crowd is not behind him enough (yet? I hope?) and doing this is the same as handing wins to Shaemus or Wade and hoping that wins alone are what gets a crowd.

The only correct choice to win the Rumble is Bryan. He’s the only guy on the crowd who is truly over enough (and has stayed over) and really it’s silly that he’s not there already and yet The Miz and Shaemus are in the main event as babyfaces.

That won’t happen though. My guess is that inbred toolbox Ryback or Cena take it while people either boo until their throats are sore, or just chant for Goldberg. Or Miz or Shaemus will take it, and that’d be even funnier. I honestly can’t wait to see who wins this year. I bet it’s hilarious.

I don’t know Blair, I think Kofi has a lot of good will with fans who would love to rally behind a serious run for him.

    Or Bryan could work, sure.

You know, on your New Age Outlaws point, I’d like to see them have a reunion run as well. If WWE Officials are serious about rebuilding the tag team division they would utilize Road Dogg and Billy Gunn as the old vets coming together for one last run to help bring some energy in, and to eventually put a newer tag team over…sort of like how the New Age Outlaws went over the Road Warriors back in the late 90s.

My wish for WWE is for them to fire their entire incompetent convoluted concept of a writing staff and get back to basics. What was so bad about before?

Couldn’t agree more Zork. Happy New Year!

@CB: My wishlist is fairly short but a good one so listen up.

    1. Hart Foundation= Hall of Fame(Especially the late Owen Hart and British Bulldog.) As for who inducts them, Natalya deserves the honor to do it but The Hitman works as well.

    2. Kidd and Gabriel rise to the Tag Team Titles: This ties into Wish #1 as Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel could be the next Hart Foundation. Bret can endorse them as a mentor for a while and it can’t hurt to put Natalya with them. Khali can be their bodyguard if they choose to continue Natalya’s storyline with the Punjabi Nightmare.

    3. Paige’s Anti-Diva Takeover: It’s no secret that Paige is my favorite new diva in the E so what better way to make an impression than making a statement against the WWE’s top diva, AJ Lee. I could see Serena return as Paige’s mentor and bringing new WWE diva Davina Rose along with her. In short, Serena, Paige and Davina join forces as the Anti-Diva Army and take complete control of the Divas Division.

    4. Less Cena and Big Show in main events: I may get some hate for this but in the words of Owen Hart: Enough is enough and it’s time for a change. Cena’s been the face of WWE for several years and Big Show is aging quickly as well so I imagine that in two years, both will be retired. I wouldn’t mind if they stepped back for the younger stars to shine. Just saying.

    5. Sandow breaks out as a singles star: As much as i love Rhodes Scholars, I do think that Damien has a good chance to be a singles threat when he breaks away from Cody. It’s a matter of time before it happens anyway so Creative might want to think about it.

    6. Royal Family Reunion: Antonio Cesaro and Sara Del Rey reunite as a team while AC keeps his grip on the United States title. Modern day HHH/Chyna perhaps? We’ll see.

That’s my list so read it, mate. Cheers, CB!!!

So I said THIS on December 31st:

I still hope Del Rio is in the mix a lot this year, even if he does end up being a transitional champion.

Also, I’d still like The Shield to have a solid showing in the Rumble (if they are in the match), though they need to start doing a little more in terms of fleshing out their overall purpose. Just because they SAY they are fighting “Injustice”, it doesn’t really make sense without some further explanation on their part.
