I figured since I started this whole 10 Thoughts thing, I should at least get to take the 10 Thoughts on the biggest event of the year.
1) I do hope that Vince still listens to crowd reactions at huge events like Wrestlemania. It seems like Christian’s years in exile didn’t do anything to numb [...]
Going in to this show I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to like it. But I usually try to go in to these shows with an open mind. I never understood the folks who went in to these things trying to hate something. Regardless, it was a pretty bad card top-to-bottom [...]
As per usual, I’m trying to put these thoughts down before reading too much about the PPV and having my initial thoughts screwed up by reading too much coverage.
ECW Championship: Matt Hardy (c) vs. Mark Henry: This was a perfectly acceptable match but not really exciting in either direction. It was likely that the [...]
The Summer Olympics in LA are less than a week away in 1984. Your commentators are Gorilla Monsoon and Gene Oakerlund.
WWF Heavyweight Championship – The Incredible Hulk Hogan (c) v. Greg “The Hammer” Valentine: This is the “white tights” Hogan era. Valentine attacks before the bell. It’s strange seeing Hogan [...]
It’s been so long since I’ve been sitting in front of the computer during a wrestling event that this is hardly a relevant thought anymore and I’m sure someone or other has already mentioned. The last live show I saw was Smackdown from a couple weeks back when Jeff Hardy was talking to Triple [...]
Unforgiven was pretty good. Let’s see if Raw breaks it’s streak of “kinda crappy the night after a PPV” shows.
—
1) I called the new music/Titantron thing on Jericho incorrectly. I don’t know why I’m harping on it… it just seems like it’s time. First of all, nu-metal’s 35-second window closed 8 years [...]
More in-depth stuff to come tomorrow but a few quick bullets.
1) The scramble matches came off as weird and awkward as I expected with no real thought to strategy or anything of the sort. Once someone scored a pinfall, there was absolutely no reason for them to continue engaging opponents. They simply should [...]
I watch this show every week and I don’t write about it, which goes against all blogger sensibilities. Some of my memories may not be on point as I was either not alive or a little kid during most of these shows. I’m going to try it for a couple weeks and see [...]
As I was editing this last week, I saw Scott post his Raw Rant to the TV Shows section and decided it would be somewhat silly to knock him out of the top slot. It also didn’t help that my Raw viewing got all screwed up because of it being on the wrong station.

1) [...]
I did a quick recap of Summerslam before watching Raw this evening. I did enjoy the PPV and had high hopes for Raw. I didn’t think this was, per say, a bad Raw… but kinda/sorta nothing happened. We also figured out where the top half the card is going to be locked [...]
One of Ken Anderson’s old gimmicks on the wrestling block would be to try and write a review directly after a PPV so he had as close to an uninfluenced opinion on the matches as possible. I tried to do the same thing last night but only managed rough paragraphs before falling asleep. [...]
1) The Tommy/Colin feud is kind of pointless. I mean, I don’t think they have any intention of pushing Tommy so having him beat Delaney is worthless. Can we assume that Vince just kind of thinks Delaney is a joke because he’s so small? Is this just to get Tommy some pointless [...]
I was on vacation last week. I guess it was silly to start this whole thing in the summer when I’m away as often as I’m home.
1) As I’ve been away for a bit, I don’t really know how people are reacting to Adamle. I’m not sure how this goofy, clueless GM thing [...]
So Adamle’s gone from ECW to be the GM on Raw… which I’ll say is honestly one of the odder decisions I’ve heard in a while. I mean, he was certainly going to be a disappointment to anyone who thought the new guy was going to be Regal, Shane O, or Ric Flair. [...]
I missed Smackdown last week. Let me just say that Vickie’s re-instatement of The Undertaker was the least surprising thing that’s happened in recent memory. That said, I still don’t really understand the thought process of this storyline. I understand the use of it to get Undertaker back on the show, but [...]
1) I’m glad they finally replaced the old ECW belt with a new belt. The silver shield is nice and differentiates the look from the other two shows.
2) People have been asking Colin Delany for two days why he turned on Tommy? Shenanigans. No one knows who Colin Delany is.
Coming off a rather disappointing PPV, let’s see if they recover on Raw. I was reading over other reviews of this show and found that most people found it either OK or good. I didn’t see that at all. I saw the crappy definition of an interim PPV with nothing getting advanced [...]
I haven’t been quite so disappointed with a PPV in a long time.

Smackdown Tag Team Titles: Jesse & Festus vs. Ryder & Hawkins vs. Miz & Morrison (c) vs. Finlay & Hornswoggle: I find it hard to believe that Ryder and Hawkins are over enough for a tag team title reign when I honestly still [...]
1) I hate Mark Henry and think he’s a worthless World Champion but I think I like this Tony Atlas/Mark Henry pairing. The Henry thing is dumb because he’s been in the WWE for like 150 years now and is obviously going nowhere. Continually putting over Tommy does nothing for him. I [...]
After a pretty crappy episodes of both Raw and Smackdown last week, I’m really hoping they get it back. On a more serious note… how bad is TNA?
—
1) Shane and Stephanie threaten to be in the arena if the Superstars don’t start behaving. Seriously, guys. Best behavior, please. And one of [...]
I’ve watched Raw pretty religiously since the beginning of the year and of course the one episode I miss turns out to be like the best episode of the year. How I roll.

1) I’ll be honest. I really thought C.M. Punk was only going to hold the belt until the end of Raw [...]
I actually watched all three WWE programs last week. I’m pretty sure I’ve never done that before. Is the Blog making me more in to wrestling or is quality of wrestling making me more in to The Blog? Stay tuned.

1) Am I the only one that has a problem now taking any [...]
This is the first Smackdown that I’ve managed to record in a while due to regular television. Unfortunately, I subjected myself to Moonlight and, since I can’t ever seem to not watch a vampire show, I continued watching it until the bitter end last week. On the other hand, the shameless Angel rip-off [...]
Matt Michaels, with tremendous forethought, IMed me at about 11:45 pm to do a column on ECW. Of course, I hadn’t taped ECW in about six months. Luckily for him, last Sunday at the Judgment Day PPV, Widro convinced me it was the best show I wasn’t watching. He made the following [...]
1) Excellent job by the WWE to have Vince essentially give Regal carte blanche to do whatever he feels appropriate. If Vince stayed silent on the matter it would have been totally out of character. But Vince’s stamp of approval puts Regal on another level of evil. If they can manage to [...]
I’ve been out of the loop for ten days, which means I’ve missed two Smackdowns, a Raw, and Backlash. I’m a bit out of the loop. That said, I was very happy with tonight’s Raw. It seemed like they picked up exactly where they left off a couple weeks ago delivering reasonably [...]
1) We know we’re in London because Regal calls JBL a “pillock” and it draws a huge crowd pop and a “Re-gal” chant. Wiki tells me that “pillock” is a British insult meaning something like “dick.” Nice. I love the British.
2) Chris Jericho’s comments probably cut a little too close [...]
The WWE made one of two-or-three yearly swings up to Albany tonight and, for the first time in a while, I kinda/sorta felt bad that I didn’t live up there. It didn’t do much for me when I was on blackout, but now that I’m back in to Raw and Smackdown, I wished I [...]
I actually wasn’t being lazy these last two weeks. I left for Boston the Friday before St. Patrick’s Day. Following that, I took the train to Albany where I stayed at my old place which doesn’t have cable (because I’m not there that much). I surprisingly stayed there through Easter (so I [...]
I was pretty pumped about this Raw. The “only Wrestlemania matches” gimmick is a pretty solid one. I’m kind of surprised that this was the “three weeks before Mania” show instead of the “six days before Mania” show, but whatever. Another high-quality Raw on the lead-up to the big show.
I have nothing [...]
My DVR pooped the bed and didn’t tape the first 7 minutes of Smackdown, so I’m not quite sure why Ric Flair is in the building, why Vickie Guererro can use him in a match, or why he has to actually do it. I come in just as Ric Flair is running down Edge [...]
I wasn’t around for Smackdown this week because I took a trip to Boston. I haven’t reached the point with Smackdown yet where I trust it enough to tape it. We’re still in that tentative, feel-each-other-out part of our relationship. MM was supposed to take care of doing ten thoughts for me, [...]
The following press release was just issued by World Wrestling Entertainment and My Network TV, making official the news that Smackdown has a new home…
February 26, 2008 11:24 AM Eastern Time
MyNetworkTV Crowns WWE Its New Programming Champ
Network Is the Exclusive Prime-Time Broadcast Home of “WWE® SmackDown®” Beginning Fall 2008
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–MyNetworkTV [...]
According to Marc Berman of MediaWeek.com, WWE Smackdown has been picked up by My Network TV. The deal with The CW network ends in September. No information is currently available on whether or not the show will remain on Friday nights. For a list of local stations that are affiliated with the [...]
I’m kind of digging this new format. I was kind of stuck for a long time on the whole “Random thought columns are lazy” idea for way too long. Then it occurred to me that I don’t write for a column driven site anymore. I write for a blog.
Anyway, I’d be curious [...]
On the strength of me no longer hating my website and two solid PPVs, I have thus ended my almost 4-year moratorium on Smackdown. The last Smackdown I watched was a couple of episodes leading up to Wrestlemania XX at MSG. I don’t think I’ll ever actually watch it live, but DVR is [...]
1) While the opening interview doesn’t bother me, I’m going to take my first moments back to complain about the ongoing need to have Triple Threat matches for the world titles. I’ve never been a fan. The ONLY time I like them is when they’re the ECW-elimination style. The pacing of the [...]
TVWeek.com is reporting that WWE has narrowed down Smackdown’s future network television home to two possibilities: My Network TV (which includes a lot of stations formerly UPN affiliates) or Tribune Broadcasting (a station group that also owns Superstation WGN).
According to WrestlingObserver.com’s Dave Meltzer, the NFL’s Tennessee Titans issued the following statement today:
Today we filed a motion in Williamson County asking for a court order preventing Jones from participating in any wrestling activity. All NFL players have language in their contracts that prohibit them from engaging in activities which may involve a significant [...]
Every once in a while, Matthew Michaels sends me an Instant Message with some random, cockamamie idea. What most of you don’t know about Mr. Michaels is that he’s a busybody who can never leave anything well enough alone. He’s the guy at the office who likes to make improvements to things that [...]
