J.R. talks about WrestleMania dream matches, WWE's recent hiring of Dennis Condrey, Steve Austin hosting the next Raw and his TV future... also: links to his great three-part interview with Heavy.com's Jeremy Botter.

In Jim Ross’ latest blog entry, he writes:

I think that way too much as been made of a question that I answered regarding what my perception was about returning to weekly TV. Firstly, it’s really nice that many fans enjoy my work and would like to hear me on a weekly basis. I’m sincerely flattered, without question.

Secondly, I do not perceive this development to likely not return to weekly TV broadcasting to be a negative one as a new schedule simply makes it easier on me travel wise and will hopefully help me keep lingering health issues in check. My goal is and has always been to help “the team” which means WWE as a whole. I’ve been fortunate to have had many years of positive experiences in several different, key areas where we have earned varying levels of success. I can still contribute in many of those areas or other platforms. Those plans are still being formulated but I am on board, in theory, and look forward to new responsibilities and challenges.

For the record, I am not “burned out” and I still have a blast broadcasting the genre. The business has been my life for over 35 years and I feel that I still have plenty to offer and want to do all I can to perpetuate the biz and to make things better for future generations. I am and always have been a team guy and the team always has to come first when dealing with one’s profession so any way that I can help the team win is what I want to do.

I have every intention of being at WM26 and if that is to simply spend time with my wife and friends and enjoy the weekend as a fan then I’m perfectly fine with that.

He is referring to the IWC’s reaction to some recent responses on the Q&A section of his site, including, “I don’t think that WWE is interested in putting me back on weekly TV and all the travel that comes along with it at this time. Would I love to work with King again? Certainly. Is this my call? Nope. Do I think that I will ever be paired with Lawler again on a regular basis? Highly unlikely.”

Also in the Q&A section he tackles many issues including saying, “If I continue to stay in wrestling, why would I want to leave WWE?” and “Jui Jitsu holds have their place in pro wrestling if properly utilized and explained. Some wrestlers are lazy and unmotivated when it comes to the application of some holds.”

That final quote segues nicely into the awesome interview he did with our good buddy Jeremy Botter over at Heavy.com. In the three-part interview, he talks about being a huge MMA fan, his favorite MMA announcer, Brock Lesnar’s run and what other wrestlers he feels could do well in the sport. We linked over to part one earlier in the week, but you can find part three, along with links to the earlier portions of the interview, at Heavy.com. It’s a must-read.

In other J.R. news, we never linked over to his his Thursday blog post, which hits on topics like his favorite WCW moments, blood in wrestling and more. Check it out here.

Lots of Saturday TNA news & notes from around the Web:

- The TNA Epics special on the X Division will now air on Tuesday at 11, writes TNAWrestling.com.

- Cheerleader Melissa Anderson a.k.a. Alissa Flash a.k.a. Raisha Saeed in a recent interview said she left TNA due to not being able to come together on a contract, but the door is open for a return at some point (credit: PWTorch.com).

- Monday’s live iMPACT! was supposed to end with Jeff Hardy hitting champ A.J. Styles with the swanton bomb but alas it went off the air early, and now some are blaming Vince Russo. Surprise! (Credit: Prowrestlng.net)

- In the latest TNA Wrestling Today online show, a new Destination X match was announced: Kendrick, Red, Kaz and Daniels in a four-way for the X title #1 contendership. Watch the full episode here:

- In other TNA video news, the company has posted its latest exclusive Web Match – Rhino vs. Jay Lethal (which is thus far no where nearly as popular as the #1 Web match in the series: Velvet Sky vs. ODB):

- Prowrestling.net is reporting that Sting is limited in the ring due to recovery from recent shoulder surgery.

Wrestling, The Miz talks about being hazed in WWE, how he doesn’t quit and his aspirations for the future. Here’s one notable quote: “I basically have more gold than Mr. T. I want to be remembered as a legend in the WWE. I don’t just want to be world champion or WWE champion, I want to be the poster child of WWE and wrestling, just like Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Austin. To see those names still in marquees is incredible to me, but I want their spot.” The full interview can be read at the above link.

According to Prowrestling.net, Matt Hardy tweeted a bit about Shane Helms and Maria Kanellis’ WWE releases.

On Helms: “Gonna miss traveling with my close friend @hurricanehelms – You guys make sure to stick with Shane – he’s a great human being with a big heart.”

On Maria: “Also, best of luck to @MariaLKanellis – a really cool and fun to be around lady. I’ll miss ya’ at work, MK.”

<s>They’re no longer live, however, at Matt’s Twitter page.</s> EDIT: My mistake, they are indeed still there, the first at 2:16pm and second at 2:19pm on 2/26/10.

Also, Prowrestling.net says that Jim Ross posted some brief thoughts on Maria on his blog, but we can’t find them. Strange.

Here’s an excerpt:

I hope that you follow me on Twitter which is an account that WWE.com set up for me which was cool of them. I appreciate all the support that I receive from WWE.com even though what I sometimes Twitter makes some folks cringe. I’m not a talented enough writer to denote when I’m simply having fun or being serious which is something that I admittedly need to address. Check out http://twitter.com/JRsBBQ. and remember, kids, never drink and Twitter. (That was a joke, BTW.)

Reminder that you can keep up with Pulse Wrestling on Twitter as well as a running list of pro wrestling personalities using the service via the widgets on the right side of this page. JR’s tweets, like his blog posts, are always a great read.

As of this morning, four matches have been announced for WWE’s debut Elimination Chamber (formerly No Way Out) pay-per-view…

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Elimination Chamber
Champion The Undertaker vs. John Morrison vs. Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk vs. R-Truth vs. Rey Mysterio

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP
Elimination Chamber
Champion Sheamus vs. John Cena vs. Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston vs. HHH vs. Ted DiBiase, Jr.

INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Kane

DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP
Tournament Finals
Maryse vs. Gail Kim

WWE’s February PPV of course used to be called No Way Out in the U.S., but the promotion has renamed it, along with several others. Here’s a list from WWE.com of upcoming events, through September:

For fans outside the U.S., WWE.com has also published PPV details for around the world.

My thoughts: With Survivor Series, typically held in November, being canceled, I’m hoping they don’t replace it, and instead move one of last year’s October PPVs (Hell in a Cell or Bragging Rights) to November, bringing the total number of PPVs down to 12, or one per month. While Breaking Point was a bust, they just launched Hell in a Cell, Bragging Rights and TLC (December), and I personally like the idea of gimmicks on each PPV in order to draw an audience who might otherwise skip a more generically-named event. In fact, Bragging Rights might be a perfect place for a War Games or quasi-Survivor Series-type main event (or series of them), or the culmination of a major tournament (a la King of the Ring, assuming they don’t prefer to have that as a TV draw like in the recent past). Another suggestion: take a page out of UFC’s playbook (and similar to what TNA is doing with the all X Division event in March) and take a few chances with non heavyweight title match main events. Why not build the tag division for a few months post-Mania and have a major tag main event one month? Or depending on the format of NXT, perhaps one month, the main event can be the “season finale” of that reality hybrid show, where the winner gets a contract to joint the WWE roster (RAW or SD) or his choosing? I know good creative build-up often leads to strong PPV buyrates, but when every PPV features the same titles and often the same wrestlers fighting for them, it shouldn’t be surprising if tonight’s UFC 110 draws a bigger audience than tomorrow’s Elimination Chamber.

Included are photos and bios for the new roster (both pros and rookies), among them Daniel Bryan (f.k.a. two-time Inside Pulse Wrestling wrestler of the year “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson). Here’s an excerpt of Bryan’s official WWE bio:

With 10 years on the indy wrestling circuit, Daniel Bryan comes to WWE NXT as by far the most experienced NXT Rookie. Trained by none other than Shawn Michaels, Bryan proceeded to compete on multiple continents while honing his craft. His journeys served the young competitor well, as he became well-known for his hybrid of Japanese and American offensive styles…
