1. The dynamic between John Cena and Dean Ambrose is more interesting & exciting than I think anyone would have guessed. But they’re playing to their obvious strengths. Cena as the goodie, goodie and Ambrose as the one too crazy to hold it all in. The WWE finally created a babyface that can finally split the crowd just as much as Cena does. Men, women and some children cheer for Ambrose while women, children and some men cheer for Cena. It’s a great crowd dynamic that I hope they’re able to maintain.

2. LOVE the fact that Dean Ambrose “stole” Drew McIntyre’s double-arm DDT as his finisher. The headlock DDT always looked extremely weak to me and the Ambrose character needed something a little more vicious so what’s better than a move made famous by Cactus Jack?!

3. Fantastic match between two of the most fluid & entertaining in-ring performers on the main roster right now. Randy Orton is VASTLY underrated as a wrestler and we all know what Dolph Ziggler can do with a bad opponent so just imagine him with a great opponent. This match will probably up for match of the year in many polls and rightfully so. Oh yea & that RKO… HOLY F**K!!!

4. I really have to give Damien Sandow credit. Talk about taking the ball and running with it. The “Damien Mizdow” gimmick is better than the revolving characters he was portraying before and hell, it’s getting over and pretty damn funny as well. Kudos to a guy who’s been with the WWE so long that it feels like a lifetime.

5. As long as Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins go on last, I’m excited for this booking. Of course we’ve all see Randy Orton versus John Cena a million times but I’m really liking the one-upmanship between Orton and Rollins. I say bridge them off into a feud and let the fans decide who they want to cheer, even if that IS Orton. I was a decent match with a predictable outcome but the line of the night was when I heard a little kid shout after Ambrose’s suplex to Cena on the stage “Enough, Ambrose! Enough!”. See, for some people this is still real… dammit!×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

Harrak’s Thoughts: WWE RAW 10.6.14 (The Rock, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, John Cena) Tue, 07 Oct 2014 03:50:36 +0000 WWE Raw Header - 2014

{After a 2-week vacation which involved more work than work, I’m back with my thoughts and insights into the world of wrestling.}

1~ So what I learned from the opening promo wasn’t that they booked a 3-on-2 handicap match but the fact that they robbed us of a pretty good main event between John Cena & Dean Ambrose versus Seth Rollins & Randy Orton by adding Kane. Smart move to open the show…

2~ I don’t know how many different six-man tag matches they can put The Usos every week but I can see why they do. They’re just damn entertaining and a great way to kick off the in ring action of a 3-hour RAW. Unfortunately I believe The Usos are going to be vastly underrated once their time is up in the WWE. These two brothers are two of the best athletes and most charismatic Superstars in the business today!

3~ The Luke Harper vignettes are right on point to “debut” him as his own singles wrestler. We know some of what he can do in the ring but definitely not all of it and absolutely nothing of his back story. These are great teases to breakout a terrific wrestler that people might not be expecting much from.

4~ Nice promo from Cena and Ambrose that highlighted their differences as well as some of the similarities. While Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan are out, Dean Ambrose is the default #2 babyface and an extremely different one at that. They can’t just place him into the Reigns or Bryan storylines which is the typical workflow when someone goes down with an injury. They have to take a couple of left turns when it comes to the Ambrose character, especially when he’s working off of John Cena as the #1 babyface. One of those left turns they nailed was tonight’s “walk out” on Cena by Dean Ambrose. The shot of him getting on the subway was the right touch that the angle needed to make it and the Ambrose character work. Now if Ambrose comes back for the save with cotton candy or something would be the icing on the cake.

5~ OK, The Rock appearing out of absolutely nowhere with nothing to promote and no big events coming up was amazing. THIS is one of the reasons why I don’t usually read my news feed on Mondays. I LOVE to be surprised like this and what a go-to guy to get on RAW have the backlash from the Russian Flag stunt last week. It’s nice to have someone the size of The Rock on speed dial. Brooklyn (and the internet) went nuts for The Rock’s return and was able to degrade Rusev the way the WWE likes & without all of the political drama or backlash. Even after all of these decades, I don’t think there’s a shadow of a doubt that The Rock is still the best in WHATEVER situation he is put in.

6~ I will admit I didn’t think we’d see promos for Erick Rowan debuted while Harper seems like the guy they want to push first (and rightfully so). I did like the tease of the pregnant woman with “It’s Coming” written on her stomach. That could mean so many different things when it comes to the Wyatt Family. In my opinion, they could use another member BUT only if it is a woman. Another male would just mean another guy that would get in the way of Rowan and Harper’s pushes and that’s exactly what they DON’T need right now.

7~ The main event was pretty much was what expected… until Dean Ambrose came out with a damn hot dog stand! Including a ketchup & mustard holster. Yup, you read that right and it was just as glorious as it sounds. I also do like the stipulation scheduled for Hell In A Cell. Of course it would be logical for Ambrose to face Seth Rollins in a Cell but now he has to beat Cena too. Things are completely in the air now and unless they start setting up a secondary feud for Cena, I don’t how Ambrose is going to advance to the main event. At least things are getting somewhat interesting leading into Hell In A Cell even without a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 9.15.14 (Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins) Tue, 16 Sep 2014 03:16:34 +0000 WWE Raw Header - 2014

#1~ There’s definitely something wrong when its a special event when the WWE World Heavyweight Champion shows up for WORK!

#2~ I wonder why Kane is considered “Corporate Kane” now but not when he was in the Corporation stable during the Attitude Era… Is it just the elbow pads and slacks? He’s definitely had a very strange Hall Of Fame career.

#3~ That was a damn good promo from Roman Reigns. You can obviously see the charisma under the “Cool Hand Luke” character he’s playing now. I can’t wait to see him finally break out completely.

#4~ As long as they let them go at it, Cesaro versus Sheamus should be damn stiff. Both guys have been watered down in the WWE main event scene but that doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten how you wrestle overseas. Tons of potential for Sunday but I’m not getting my hopes up too high.

#5~ If you ever wondered what a good “go home” set looks like, just watch the last 4 minutes of The Usos & Sheamus vs Cesaro, Gold & Stardust. That was unbelievably timed out and tremendously excited. Great work by the 6 men in this match.

#6~ That was actually a pretty good segment to sell the main event at Night of Champions. It showed that Lesnar can still be immediately dominant if he doesn’t showboat. And it showed that Cena can contend in the match by exploiting Lesnar’s mistakes. SummerSlam was a match so different from anything we’ve ever seen in a World Heavyweight Championship match I’m interested to see what they come up with Sunday.

#7~ Remember when The Shield debuted and we couldn’t wait for them to break up because they were all great singles’ wrestlers? Well so far so good and its only been a few months! Just wait until they’re all main eventers.

#8~ I’m not taking much time to mention the final segment. It sucked.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 9.8.14 (Chris Jericho, Bray Wyatt, John Cena, Roman Reigns) Tue, 09 Sep 2014 03:22:25 +0000 WWE Raw Header - 2014

1. Smart idea to begin your “season premiere” with Bray Wyatt versus Chris Jericho in a steel cage. It’s rare to kick off RAW with a match so starting off with a steel cage match should be a big deal. AND THE 43 YEAR OLD CHRIS JERICHO JUST JUMPED FROM THE TOP OF STEEL CAGE! And yet I don’t think there’s anything Jericho can do at this stage of his career where he could be considered one of the greatest performers of all-time. He deserves it but it won’t happen. A great match to kick off RAW. A great way to write Jericho off of TV and another great moment to bolster Bray Wyatt back into the upper-midcard/main event scene.

2. DAMMIT! Why couldn’t Rosa Mendes’ wardrobe malfunction happen tonight?! As my wife said, “At least she has a nice butt. It could have been a flat ass like Summer Rae.” Yup, straight from a woman’s mouth. I love her.

3. Good call having John Cena come to the ring with Paul Heyman. If Brock Lesnar’s not going to be on RAW, there has to be some sort of confrontation between Heyman and Cena. And did Cena write Paul Heyman’s rap? That sure as hell sounded like something 2004 John Cena would have let loose. Still, that was a damn good promo from John Cena and probably the most emotional promo I’ve seen from him in a long time. Him and Heyman have had to carry this feud through the absence of Lesnar but if Lesnar’s storylines have to be carried by Heyman & Lesnar’s opponent every month, the television product is definitely going to suffer.

4. NXT on RAW?!?!? FANTASTIC! I have a feeling these four guys REALLY impressed with their one shot on RAW. Great match and an amazing showcase for these great athletes.

5. Did Jerry Springer legitimately just sprain his ankle on RAW? He did curl into a ball awfully quick but I doubt they would have stayed on him getting medical treatment if he was seriously hurt. Plus, what the hell was the point of this segment when you held the exact same one last week? Sigh…

6. I don’t know who the Bunny is but that was a damn good superkick. One that I’ve seen Dolph Ziggler deliver but I seriously doubt they would reveal Ziggler as the Bunny.

7. A good show with a very good main event and angle to close the show. Unfortunately I definitely found myself checking my watch more than once when we hit the 3rd hour. Which sucks considering how hard Reigns, Orton and Rollins worked to close out the show. There was just too much on this show that could have been shortened or eliminated completely. It was just another show to fall victim to the 3-hour format.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My (10) Thoughts: WWE RAW 9.1.14 (John Cena, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins) Tue, 02 Sep 2014 05:11:28 +0000 WWE Raw Header - 2014

1~ I’m a bit disappointed that Jericho’s Highlight Reel immediately turned into the “clusterf*ck promo” segment that WWE’s been falling back to lately. I have no idea why they’re now threatening John Cena’s “contractually signed” rematch versus Brock Lesnar but something like this usually happens when something unexpected has come up. Is John Cena more injured than everyone really thought? Or are they now backpedaling from the destruction John Cena suffered at SummerSlam & now they think there needs to be more babyfaces in the match? I have no clue what they’re thinking about for Night Of Champions but it seems that things might be in flux.

2~ I’ve never wanted to see anyone wrestle more than Dolph Ziggler in that tag match. I guess that means The Miz is making this gimmick work but I was more interested in his new “makeup artist” than I was in seeing The Miz (or Damien Miz-Dow) get in the ring. I know it’s a long shot but how good would a program be between Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro if Cesaro won the US title & they had to unify the titles in a “best of seven” program?

3~ I don’t know how I feel the Nikki Bella videos. It definitely seems like a very passive aggressive way to hurt Brie in a way that she couldn’t respond. Yeah, yeah, it’s all fake and whatever you’d like to say but I liked being able to suspend my disbelief (at least a little bit) especially when Stephanie McMahon was involved.

4~ So are the Big Show & Mark Henry “The World’s Largest Tag Team” or is Mark Henry feuding with Rusev? I’d prefer them as a tag team than another pointless Rusev feud. Truly though, has anyone gained anything from facing Rusev? Hell, Jack Swagger moved from Rusev to BO DALLAS?! I can’t wait for someone to end this foreign experiment.

5~ Sorry Bo, Jack Swagger is no one’s favorite wrestler. He’s like the Aquaman of the WWE.

6~ Nikki Bella seems to Stephanie McMahon’s new poodle & giving her a Divas title match was like finding a new squeaky toy. Nikki’s promo are becoming higher and higher pitched & she needs to get that under control. As for the segment a whole, did it remind anyone else of the segment that opened the show? Yup, they just followed the exact same formula except the Divas Champion was actually involved. We’ve had some good and some bad tonight but these type of promos just bring my opinion of the show right down.

7~ Hey! Check out WWE promoting a match a whole week away! I’m so happy for them and hope they can continue down this fruitful path.

8~ It’s pretty damn awesome that Gold & Stardust have turned heel. The very first thing I thought of when I saw Stardust, I said “Damn, that’s creepy.” Goldust’s heel character may be a little rusty but Cody has been a heel for most of his career. He also has the experience performing as a creepy character if you think back to his plastic mask & paper bag days. That time was some of the best work Cody Rhodes has ever done. I think we’d be naïve to think that he’d be able to capture that magic again but hopefully we’ll get enough of it to make this feud interesting.

9~ Everything that has happened in this main event match is really backing up my theory that Cena may be more injured than anyone has reported. Sure he finally got his hot tag but then he couldn’t even make the cover and instead tagged out to Roman Reigns to hit the spear for the finish. Everything about that match seemed awkward and a little off. I don’t know, I could be seeing ghosts where there are none but I’m curious to see what happens to the Night Of Champions main event.

10. Damn, I know Widro would give me a hard time for not hitting 10 thoughts so instead I’ll include some new work done by our friend, Rob Schamberger:

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 8.25.14 (Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, John Cena, Bray Wyatt) Tue, 26 Aug 2014 03:05:57 +0000 WWE Raw Header - 2014

1~ I really don’t have much to say about the opening segment. Yes, there were a few Legends in the ring but the end result was another “rah-rah” John Cena promo. You would think that there’d be a huge return and promo after the absolute destruction Cena suffered at SummerSlam. Guess not.

2~ Guess it’s a good sign that Cesaro is actually getting a championship program, even if it is for the title everyone forgets is still in existence. I just hope Cesaro and Sheamus can have a few stiff and entertaining matches.

3~ I don’t think anyone in WWE history could ever out-crazy again. And I think that Paige is the next victim of the wackjob.

4~ Roman Reigns versus Seth Rollins is perfectly timed. Reigns is at that time where you want to pull back his push just a tad bit so he doesn’t become oversaturated. And Seth Rollins needs another natural opponent that will distract him from cashing in the Money In The Bank briefcase. One or two pay-per-views would do these two good, especially is Rollins gets a win over Reigns at one point.

5~ A heel Goldust & Stardust could be interesting for a little while. At least until the next PPV and God knows the Usos needed a legitimate heel tag team to feud with.

6~ It’s scary how much better Brock Lesnar is in a pre-taped promo instead of a giving him a live mic. I don’t know if he needs numerous takes or gets coaching before every answer but whatever it is, it definitely works.

7~ WOW, I can honestly say I didn’t think Nikki had that heel character in her. While Brie’s faking crying was a little much but Nikki’s words (“I wish you had died in the womb!”) were harsh and deeply personal so I hope they knew what each other would say before they went out there. If this feud is going to continue with this type of an emotion, it might be a decent dog days of summer storyline.

8~ I loved seeing a different type of dominant John Cena but did have to be against Bray Wyatt? It could have easily have been against Luke Harper, Kane, Randy Orton or Seth Rollins where they wouldn’t have been hurt by looking weak. By sticking Wyatt in there, the mystique and unpredictably of his character were basically thrown out the window when all you have to do is hit him with some big moves & suddenly he can’t compete anymore.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 8.11.14 (John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Hulk Hogan, Stephanie McMahon) Wed, 13 Aug 2014 01:14:54 +0000 WWE Raw Header - 2014

1~ I’d be remiss in not opening this article without drawing attention to the horrible suicide that happened today. The world lost a legend in Robin Williams to severe depression. Depression is real and is something I’ve only begun to deal with. I had to miss work from December 2013-February 2014 because I was learning how to manage it. I still struggle with it every single day & it certainly kicked up when I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia, plus they found a node on my lung. If I didn’t have my friends and family throughout this year, I don’t know what I would have done. Williams was obviously suffering from something that no one was going to be able to help him with and life just became too much. I understand it & hope that, if nothing else, his death brings more attention to depression sufferers and we’re not just brushed aside any longer.

2~ Sorry now back our regularly scheduled program. As far as the opening segment goes, that was by FAR the great Paul Heyman rap ever. Besides that I thought it was a lot of the same. It would have been the perfect time to mention that Brock Lesnar beat John Cena way back with Lesnar was the SmackDown champion and Cena was first making his name for himself. Instead we were subjected to the same footage and the same promo (except for the rap). I AM looking forward to see these two finally in the ring later in the shower. I just hope it isn’t a bait and switch.

3~ As awful as the Lumberjack Match stipulation is (why not a cage match?!?!?) and how campy Dean Ambrose jumping out of gift box was, I loved it. Yea it was cheesy and a little cliché but that’s exactly why it worked. You’d never think the Dean Ambrose character would wrap himself up in a gift box and yet here he comes. The Network plug-in his promo was a bit overkill but at least he tried to make it work.

4~ How awesome would it be if “Megan” turned out to be “Claire Lynch” ? Actually that couldn’t happen since TNA probably still has “Claire” under contract. Either way, this segment was as bad as expected. Although it did answer why Stephanie came out dressed in nurse’s scrubs.

5~ It wasn’t a lot but I liked the sitdown interview that Chris Jericho and Bray Wyatt had. It was an unlikely format for both men as they usually thrive in front of a live crowd but I think that’s exactly why this segment worked. It was definitely a different way to go for Wyatt but both men were able to use their tone, word connotations and expressions to sell a match instead of the typical hype around a big match (Cena/Lesnar).

6~ It seems like everyone gets a bit excited when John Cena is able to enter his “intense & serious” mode and is able to let out some non-PG verbiage but it’s just going to end after SummerSlam. Whether he wins or loses at SummerSlam, the baseball cap wearing, bright red, K-Mart spokesperson will just be on TV the following week. This edgier Cena has never lasted longer than a month since he’s turned into this cartoon character and I don’t believe that will change anytime soon.

7~ Stephanie might run into some legal problems here when she was the one who invited that woman in the ring. How many times have we seen a wrestler or referee put the boots to a fan that was trying to get to the ring (Eddie Guerrero, anyone?) They never could press charges. At least the last arrest was actually dramatic.

8~ For a week of promotion, Hulk Hogan’s birthday celebration was basically a nice tribute video and a Scott Hall nostalgia promo before Brock Lesnar’s music hit to cue the birthday spoiler. Of course this just led to an awkward stare down until John Cena made his entrance for the more important stare down between the main event players at SummerSlam. Not too much special on tonight’s show & even worse considering it was the go-home show for SummerSlam.

Well, either way, former WWE writer Andrew Goldstein will be joining us live at 8 pm est on the HTC Wrestling Pulsecast to predict and debate our choices for SummerSlam.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 8.4.14 (John Cena, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Kane) Tue, 05 Aug 2014 04:03:33 +0000 WWE Raw Header - 2014

{1} WOAH! I just realized how little we posted last week besides for the Hulk Hogan & Paul Heyman interviews. I sincerely apologize for that & promise more content this week, including an exclusive interview with former WWE/TNA/ECW star, Justin Credible on Thursday at 8 PM est. You’ll be able to hear it live on our Blog Talk Radio station right here.

{2} As much as I love Roman Reigns’s push and the way it has played out, get Kane off of the active roster. Reigns in a Last Standing Match against almost ANYONE else on the roster and you could have had a main event match but not Kane. And he was so close to reinventing himself as the maskless “Corporate Kane” just a few months ago before they shoved the mask back on him & now his time in the ring is done.

{3} I know I might be in the minority here but I hate the idea of doing a UFC-style video package for John Cena & Brock Lesnar and their match at SummerSlam. Why not show some of their matches BEFORE Lesnar left the WWE for years. Show Lesnar at the top of SmackDown when Cena was doing his best to get noticed. Hell, Cena’s first WWE Championship opportunity was against Lesnar! Show THEIR past together. Everyone knows that Brock Lesnar was a UFC Heavyweight Champion and absolutely everyone knows that John Cena has been the World Champion 15 times. Talk about their parallel OVW & WWE careers instead of focusing on events that DIDN’T EVEN HAPPEN IN YOUR COMPANY!

{4} Did they really just announce that next week will be Hulk Hogan’s “birthday celebration”? On the go-home show of Monday Night RAW before the second biggest PPV of the year, SummerSlam. It happens a lot in the WWE but that really showcased where the company’s priorities lie.

{5} I’m still pretty shocked that Alberto Del Rio has a job & it just bugs me when they put him in the ring with Dean Ambrose. Del Rio never turned out to be the “huge” star many wanted him to be & now is a serviceable heel for matches like this one but Ambrose isn’t going to get over more by beating Del Rio. Even though he is a former WWE and World Champion, I just don’t see Del Rio being a name you remember 5 or 10 years from now.

{6} It’s great that Dolph Ziggler is getting some time on RAW but neither him nor Cesaro get television entrances?! They didn’t even get WWE App entrances! And then the matches lasts all of 4 minutes with Cesaro losing cleanly and quickly. Why does one of these two have to suffer & not both skyrocket to the top?

{7} DID KANE JUST RETIRE FROM IN-RING COMPETITION?! DID MY DREAM FINALLY COME TRUE?! Don’t get me wrong, I loved Kane in his prime, he has had a Hall Of Fame career with some fantastic moments but those moments peaked with Team Hell No. That should have been Kane’s “swan song”. Not after hitting his 20 year mark & having the world have to witness his decline.

{8} Another good match featuring Luke Harper & this time it was against the always great Chris Jericho. I’m beginning to get anxious for Harper’s singles run in the future because his ring style of Bruiser Brody/super agile big man is going to be over huge when he gets a chance to shine.

{9} I thought we might see Seth Rollins lose his Beat The Clock match since Ambrose’s match lasted so very long. Once Heath Slater was introduced (to the “We’re A 3 Man Bannnnnd!” entrance theme, by the way) it became blatantly obvious. Ambrose’s antics outside of the ring were excellent. It was nice to see Dean portray his “unstable” character in a more subtle, rebellious way than the out-of-control man we’ve seen since his debut. This was definitely Ambrose in babyface mode and strangely enough, it reminded me of the antics the late Eddie Guerrero would get up to.

{10} I know I’m not the only one thinking that someone was supposed to come out to help the Bellas but in actuality, who would? Daniel Bryan is home recovering. John Cena isn’t supposed to be in the building and they’ve yet to really show his & Nikki’s relationship on RAW or SmackDown yet. Roman Reigns has to zero in on Randy Orton & Dean Ambrose is probably out buying JBL a new hat. There was no logical Superstar to “make the save” and it was somewhat interesting. Like I said before, I thought someone was supposed to come out but they broke traditional and let the two heels stand over the two fallen women, victorious. Brie Bella and Stephanie McMahon’s match at SummerSlam may not be the best but emotions are going to be running extremely high & hopefully the LA crowd is into this feud as much or more than the past few arenas (and those reactions were already extremely hot. If it wasn’t for the 15 or so video packages, this might have been more than a middle-of-the-road show.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 7.28.14 (John Cena, Chris Jericho, Brie Bella, Stephanie McMahon) Tue, 29 Jul 2014 03:19:00 +0000 WWE Raw Header - 2014

#1~ John Cena was in typical form coming off of the announcement of who his opponent is at SummerSlam. It was quintessential “Let’s Go Team & Never Give Up!” that we always get when Cena has a big opponent to face. The Cesaro interruption was a great few seconds until I remembered that he’s been the “jobber to the stars” the past few months. It’s as if the WWE know they have something special with Cesaro but have no idea how to handle him.

#2~ Ah we got so close to another classic Chris Jericho/Stephanie McMahon segment. If ONLY it wasn’t TV-PG. Now I can only pray that crowds start to sing “Bad Boy” every time Stephanie is trying to cut a promo.

#3~ A solid tag team match that saw Dolph Ziggler take over the hot tag role that Daniel Bryan used to hold. Fast, point-to-point and damn exciting. Plus it was the second win in as many weeks for Ziggler which is definitely an upswing when compared to the rest of 2014. I’m not getting my hopes up yet but at least Ziggler is winning.

#4~ While I felt Randy Orton’s beatdown of Roman Reigns was justified if they want to build to a match at SummerSlam, the attack itself felt like it left something to be desired. I don’t know if it’s because we’ve seen Orton attacks that have been FAR more vicious or that the crowd didn’t give him the heel heat he deserved for beating down the #2 babyface in Roman Reigns but either way it felt like a slow start to a (hopefully) short feud.

#5~ While I thought Seth Rollins/Chris Jericho was good, I expected the match to save this show. It was slower paced than I would have expected though it picked up near the end just for the fluke finish. I’d like to see these two get more TV time and some more time to work together. Given that, I would love to see these two mix it up again.

#6~ Gotta love pro-wrestling. Where even lawsuits and warrants can be settled in a match at SummerSlam. I was shocked that this segment was closing out the show but once Stephanie delivered the line “At SummerSlam, I’ll make you my bitch!” it all made sense. It’s strange to have two strong women’s programs going on at the same time but it’s working. Stephanie and Brie Bella are carrying the emotional storyline role while Paige and AJ handle the in ring work for the Divas Championship. Overall a very slow show but they do have quite a few weeks until SummerSlam.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 7.21.14 (Triple H, Brie Bella, Stephanie McMahon, Brock Lesnar) Tue, 22 Jul 2014 20:26:21 +0000 WWE Raw Header - 2014

#1~ Nice slip of the word “mark” by Triple H in the opening promo but how did he forget to mention Tout? 2 problems with the opening segment for me. One is that they had to tease Triple H’s decision for the whole night. It’s completely out of character for this version of his character who always is two steps ahead of anyone. The other is that the opening segment was ridiculously formulaic. Maybe I’ve been watching wrestling too long but those segments used to kick off every show and to me that’s just lazy writing.

#2~ Stephanie McMahon versus Brie Bella (Danielson) is going to be nuclear once they get into the ring. Finally there’s a Steve Austin to Stephanie’s Vince. Not only does this push Brie to the top but it also keeps Daniel Bryan fresh in the fan’s mind while he recovers.

#3~ I still stand by my opinion that Chris Jericho going over Wyatt cleanly at Battleground was the right call. I don’t care if he lost cleanly to Cena at WrestleMania, he was booked extremely strong going into that match & it turned out to be a pretty good spotlight for him too. If Wyatt pinned Jericho at Battleground, what reason would Wyatt have to continue the feud with Jericho? If Jericho lost to Wyatt, we’d get the typical “babyface chases the evil villain ” story and people would be complaining about the staleness of the feud. This is at least something different. Now the monster has a more violent mission to take out the good guy and I wholeheartedly believe that Bray Wyatt will come out on top of this feud.

#4~ I really didn’t think I could dislike The Miz anymore than I did but then he won the damn IC belt and came out in a horrendous white suit, goofy smile & ridiculous sunglasses that look like they were bought at the nearest gas station. Honestly, I missed most of this match because I was complaining about The Miz so much. Even in a match with Dolph Ziggler, Miz is able to make it unwatchable TV. I did catch the last few minutes of Ziggler working his ass off to put on a good showing. At least people LOVE to boo The Miz and root for Ziggler.

#5~ Yea dumping Paul Heyman worked really well for Ryback and Curtis Axel. Not that I’m saying that RybAxel can measure up to Cesaro in any sense of the imagination but then again, when did WWE writers ever consider wrestling ability when writing scripts?

#6~ Paige and AJ should be a good feud now they’ve done away with the “frenemies” bit & Paige can be a full-out heel. We haven’t seen that yet on the main roster and we really didn’t see AJ Lee, the wrestler, as a babyface either. I’m looking forward to what can be a great set of matches and am intrigued to see how both women perform in their new roles. It’s amazing to think that the WWE has more actual wrestling women in their locker room than they do tag teams.

#7~ OK the Stephanie/Brie stuff was golden. Stephanie’s progression from disbelief to anger to fear was excellent. Sure she was a bit over the top at times but then again, what cops would arrest someone on national television? Suspend your belief and enjoy the ride. Between this slow burn of a feud heating up and Ambrose/Rollins clicking at Battleground, the WWE definitely has a few stories rolling right now.

#8~ At first, I was against Dean Ambrose wearing jeans and a wife beater as his ring gear but it perfectly fits his character & watching his entrance tonight I couldn’t picture him in anything else. Cesaro versus Ambrose was a perfect display of what the WWE has in their upper-midcard. There’s so much talent in the WWE locker, I’m just glad some of the best aren’t being left behind.

#9~ The Brock Lesnar was an obvious letdown to anyone who has been on the internet in the last month. RAW was mostly red-hot & the Lesnar announcement should have been the icing on the cake but it was a lukewarm reception from everyone except for the commentary team. This is one of those shows that would be fantastic before spoilers but there’s no getting away from them now.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

How Would You Book It: Sami Zayn’s & Adrian Neville’s Call Up To The Main Roster Wed, 16 Jul 2014 15:57:39 +0000

You Book It - Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville Top Box

Adrian Neville is the NXT Champion and Sami Zayn has been making an impact since he very first NXT show when he pinned Antonio Cesaro. Zayn and Neville are NXT top 2 babyfaces & it’s been that way for a good while now. Expect for maybe a championship run for Zayn, both men have accomplished all that can be done in NXT & rumors of their callups to the main roster are gaining more and more momentum.

But if or when they make their main roster debut, as the old saying goes, you only have one chance to make a good first impression. Granted two superstars, Bray Wyatt & brother Bo Dallas, we’re metaphorically thrown another bone after Husky Harris debut was flat & Bo Dallas debuted  in the Royal Rumble followed by an extremely brief feud with Wade Barrett before being shot back down South.

But what to do with two of the best in-ring competitors in the WWE today?

Maybe there’s a Future versus Past Survivor Series Elimination Match where NXT & recently debuted WWE stars take on a team of WWE Legends? Or possibly Sami Zayn appears on a random edition of RAW and defeats the Intercontinental Champion, Cesaro? Now Zayn is the IC Champion in his first match on the main roster! Neville is a little bit harder to predict since there’s not many men on the current roster that can mold to his style. But how about a very good Royal Rumble, possibly eliminating a still heel Seth Rollins and they build to a match between the two at WrestleMania 31!

That’s all I have but this is your choice people! Book Adrian Neville & Sami Zayn’s main roster debut from NXT and their first impressions to an audience that doesn’t watch NXT. YOU BOOK IT!×250.jpg×1201.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 7.14.14 (John Cena, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins) Tue, 15 Jul 2014 03:14:49 +0000 WWE Raw Header - 2014

#1~ I should have know that tonight’s main event was too good to be true. The first segment started out nicely with Roman Reigns calling out Cena’s “rah-rah leads to serious mode” promo, something no babyface has done in a long time. Then Dean Ambrose interrupts both of them with another strong promo before being destroyed by Kane, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins with Rollins Curb Stopping Ambrose’s head onto a wooden cart for the killshot. While I absolutely would prefer the main event to air as scheduled, this segment did more for Ambrose than most people probably realized. Ambrose was attacked by future Hall Of Famers Kane & Orton and the current “Triple H-project”, Seth Rollins. Not only did it take a lot to put him down but he even kept his anti-authority snark with the “Is that all you got?” quip before the Curb Stomp.

#2~ So what now? Are Layla and Summer Rae “LayCool” with a bit of the “Extreme Expose” thrown in? As long as they don’t turn Dolph Ziggler into a 2014-version of Shawn “Meat” Stasiak, then whatever. It’s hard to make these two women anymore irrelevant.

#3~ First a beatdown on Dean Ambrose and then a sneak attack beatdown on the Usos? Did the Creative Team forget every other tactic on how to get heat on the heels leading into a big match against the babyfaces at the pay-per-view?

#4~ The Russia/USA segment was complete crap until Jack Swagger took down Rusev and sent him limping to the locker room. Honestly, I had some high hopes for a Swagger babyface turn but it also began when American pride was at a yearly pride. Not only was it close to July 4th but it was also riding high on the incredible ride the US National Soccer Team were riding in the World Cup. Now people just want to see Rusev lose a one-on-one match instead of REALLY getting behind Swagger.

#5~ Awesome promo for Sting in WWE 2K15 & one that is sure to sell a ton of pre-orders for the game. Of course this was probably the WORST time to pipe the live crowds reaction to the promo. Obviously the crowd was insanely hot for the Sting reveal but they didn’t have Michael Cole’s lead in selling the WWE 2k15 pre-order and they completely turned on the video package. That video package actually had more heat than The Miz did!

#6~ Did I just hear the crowd chanting “Boring” during Bray Wyatt’s promo?! I can’t remember the last time that happened – if EVER! I’m not sure if Chris Jericho is that over in Richmond, VA or if people were actually bored by the less than stellar segment. Either way that was an unexpected twist.

#7~ Cesaro loses again – both the match and no Paul Heyman. I don’t know what’s going on with Heyman but this losing streak is starting to convince me that Cesaro will walk out of Battleground with the Intercontinental Champion. Maybe he’ll start to regain some of the steam he had following WrestleMania 30 & his Andre the Giant battle royal win.

#8~ Is it just me shouldn’t the main event have a lot more time than 15 minutes? Sure it wasn’t anything special but with all of your top players in the same ring, you should at least give the audience something to look forward to. We knew we’d see Reigns spear Cena at some point but before that the match ends in a DQ finish?! Come on. A very subpar RAW, especially since this was the go-home show for Battleground. Just a rough night all around.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 7.7.14 (John Cena, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns) Tue, 08 Jul 2014 14:44:41 +0000 WWE Raw Header - 2014

#1~ Before you get too comfortable, did you know there’s a new Wallpaper of the Week featuring Chris Jericho and Bray Wyatt? You should download it quick!

#2~ I never thought the silent but deadly Roman Reigns would open an addition of Raw with a promo, definitely not this early in his singles’ run. But damn if he didn’t pull it off. Our friend over on the WWE Creative Humor Twitter wrote about the segment that was just supposed to be funny but oddly enough it’s also a bit true. He wrote,

It’s sad but true; in this PG-era of the WWE, the guidelines only allow for a certain amount of leeway when it comes to promos and controversial words. Last week, John Cena got the nod and tonight, they gave the crowd-friendly line to Roman Reigns for an easy pop. It’s not much but it’s something for a guy who hasn’t been in the main event for very long.

#3~ It’s a shame that Dean Ambrose versus Randy Orton will only be remembered for the botched spot. In a normal situation, I would have expected Orton to throw a fit except it absolutely was Orton’s spot. I can almost guarantee that Ambrose was supposed to jump off the top rope and into a Orton dropkick. Except Orton took his sweet ass time getting up and turning around. Either way it’ll end up being Ambrose’s fault somehow. Who would have ever thought that Ambrose would be the bit player coming out of The Shield’s breakup?

#4~ One of my favorite memories of 90s WWF was the running storyline of Jerry Lawler & his absolute hatred of the Hart family. From Helen & Stu to Bret & sometimes Owen, “The King” couldn’t despise the Harts more than anyone on earth leading to all sorts of matches including the infamous Kiss My Foot match which eventually led to the debut of Lawler’s personal dentist, Dr. Issac Yankem (aka Glenn Jacobs – aka Kane). It would have been awesome to see King tease at least SOME hatred for the Harts, at least for me.

#5~ This Fandango/Layla/Summer Rae thing is still going? First I thought it was over after that “match” at the pay-per-view. Then I thought it was done when Dolph Ziggler and Summer basically had “PG sex” in the ring last week. But now not only is there a Fandango/Ziggler feud but Summer Rae is STILL trying to seduce Fandango away from Layla? I’d be OK with a Ziggler/Fandango feud (especially if the IC title was involved) but the choice between Layla and Summer is just ridiculous. Layla is stacked and is a former Miami Heat dancer. Summer pretended to be a dancer for Fandango when his first dancer didn’t want to leave college for a career in wrestling. I think you get where my allegiance lies.

#6~ I appreciate the fact that The Miz is trying something new with his character. I appreciate the new transition into his theme music and the Top Gun glasses. But so far that’s all I’ve seen. The music is the same. The promos are the same. The jacket and ring gear is the same. And most importantly, his ring work is the same. If you’re going to try to revamp your career, you NEED to add more than glasses & the beginning of The Rock’s old entrance video to your own. That’s like adding pin-striping to a ’94 Chevy Malibu & asking 30k for it. The Miz has a long way to go to ask fair market value for his presence.

#7~ Chris Jericho and Bray Wyatt is going to be good. Really good. But please let them build, let them tell a story. Give them more TV time than just a promo spot after a throwaway match. Let them write their own material and be held accountable of whether or not if they’re successful. It worked with Jericho & Shawn Michaels in their modern-day classic rivalry in 2008. Take a chance again and watch the magic happen.

#8~ Kofi Kingston starts winning when he starts talking about a heel turn – OK fine. But he starts beating Cesaro, a guy who just wrestling for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, cleanly and weakly? The way Cesaro was moving up the card, I could clearly see him facing Brock Lesnar in a battle of the “Paul Heyman Guys” in the near future. Now I’m just hoping he doesn’t fall off the map completely and regain ANY momentum he had going into and out of WrestleMania 30.

#9~ Seth Rollins and John Cena had pretty good chemistry in the ring, even though they didn’t have it in the earlier backstage segment. The idea that Rollins has to remind the audience every week that he can cash in at anytime is absurd. The Money In The Bank contract has been around for almost 10 years, the “WWE Universe” knows how it works and Rollins will cash in when it’s most advantageous for him. Stop shoving it down our throats and tell the story you want to tell. Of course if that story is how much Roman Reigns and John Cena like each other, I’d rather they not.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

LIVE ON-SITE Coverage Of WWE RAW 6.30.14 Mon, 30 Jun 2014 21:07:26 +0000 20140630-165947-61187215.jpg

– Looks like it will be a legit sellout tonight for #RAWHartford. People at the box office are searching for even single seats.

– According to the Hartford wrestling fans, CM Punk is returning tonight. Take that for what it’s worth… & keep in mind it is coming from a classy woman with vodka in a water bottle.

– Ready to roll.

– Lively crowd so far that are itching for the show tonight. Looks like a legit sellout too.

– A ton more kids than a normal RAW or SmackDown in CT, the “Let’s Go Cena!” are actually holding their own. There’s also FAR more young girls in the arena decked out in Total Divas merchandise, complete with replica Divas Championship belts!

– Looks like there’s no pre-show tonight as Renee Young (MUCH hotter in person) & Todd Phillips come out to call Superstars.

– Big E pins Titus O’Neil clean in the first Superstars match.

– Del Rio (who was in the main event last night) makes R-Truth tap after a botched cross arm breaker.

– Lights are on bright!

– It seems as if Triple H has been teaching Seth Rollins the fine art of baby oil as Rollins looks jacked!

– Hartford is hot & LOUD tonight! I love it when a crowd is this into the show.

– The Usos are insanely over drowning out any chant in favor of the Wyatt Family.

– Awesome 6-man tag match that had the whole floor standing the entire match.

– Good God that was a great show. I will have more to add tomorrow because my phone is just hitting 1%.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 6.23.14 (Stephanie McMahon, Vickie Guerrero, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns) Tue, 24 Jun 2014 03:19:28 +0000 Raw (Hartford 2013)

#1~ That was an unexpectedly exciting opening segment. Not only did we finally see Vickie Guerrero turn babyface for the first time in her on-screen career & referencing her late husband to a well-deserved pop. And if that wasn’t enough, Stephanie McMahon is getting back in the ring? Her matches were always “must-see TV” and while a match with Vickie isn’t going be anything spectacular, it should be fun.

#2~ Well that was a different twist to an entrance theme. Last week we were introduced to the fantastically generic rock music for Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins and this week we have the hillbilly, accordion version of “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands.” WWE must love that the most over song on their show is public domain.

#3~ Nice lineup for the briefcase Money In The Bank match, especially once Dean Ambrose is added. I’m guessing Ambrose either takes out one of the heels before the PPV & takes their spot or Vickie wins her match tonight and puts Ambrose in the ladder match to spite The Authority. Honestly, I can do without Swagger in that match. Hell, he’s going to be in the ring with Dolph Ziggler and a ladder again! Get him out of there!

#4~ The way they added Dean Ambrose was even better than my idea. I loved the fact that they were able to play up the idea that Seth Rollins is today’s “Cerebral Assassin” by thinking ahead and wanting Ambrose in the ring where he can eliminate him himself instead of always looking over his shoulder. It made perfect sense and it’s something Triple H would have done in his prime as well. It really seems as if they want to construct the image of Seth Rollins as a new Triple H. I’m curious to see how his development plays out.

#5~ I like the addition of an Intercontinental Championship match on Raw. Even if nothing comes of it, the title defense alone puts the champion & championship in the spotlight and thus adding a little more prestige that it always needs. Of course it doesn’t hurt that it was a stellar match from beginning to end. Barrett has definitely improved in the ring and anyone in the ring with Ziggler always looks 100x better. I’m looking forward to the two of them in the ladder match Sunday.

#6~ That was the perfect way for Vickie Guerrero to bow out and retire, if that’s truly the case. I should have known that they were going to save Stephanie’s return match for one with Brie Bella. Anyway, the music, the shimmy and defying authority was exactly how Vickie should have ended her on-screen career. I only met Eddie a few times but I have to believe that he was cracking up above in heaven.

#7~ Goldust easily had the line of the night with “WOW! Now, I’m the normal one!” I knew Cody was going to go all out with the Stardust character but this segment FAR surpassed my expectations. I said it last week and I’ll say it again, every thing that the WWE has given Cody Rhodes – from his Legacy run to Dashing and the mask – Rhodes has won championship gold with that gimmick. I can only think that Goldust and Stardust are going to wear the tag team championships again at some point this year.

#8~ Does someone have to die before Jack Swagger is released?! He botched three different spots and that included dropping or simply not catching Kofi Kingston TWICE! He’s a damn liability!

#9~ For such a loaded show, the main event failed to impress. Obviously this was the natural main event before Money In The Bank but it capped off a stellar show with a stale main event. I’m still really looking forward to the PPV on Sunday & the RAW after (since I’ll be in attendance, mostly) but the addition of Kane I think was a detriment to the match on Sunday than a plus. Sure everyone now can pair up with someone sneaking up the ladder for the win but it really wasn’t needed. I will say that seeing Reigns interrupt Kane’s pyro and standing tall at the end of RAW was a nice surprise.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 6.16.14 (Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Stardust) Tue, 17 Jun 2014 03:09:19 +0000 WWE Raw 11-13 Header

#1~ One of the best parts of the WWE Network has to be watching all of the old segments they air in-between shows. Like the Los Guerreros vignette & Stone Cold Steve Austin “Confidential” segment I just saw again. The Guerrero vignettes are classic in every sense of the word.

#2~ I keep seeing Rob Van Dam in this opening segment & am so happy Alberto Del Rio beat him for the Money In The Bank ladder match. Not because I’m an Alberto Del Rio fan at all but he kept RVD out of the now WWE World Heavyweight Championship match. Come on, we all know that Del Rio doesn’t have a chance but at least now we’re spared all of the Rob Van Dam fans called for a championship win for “one last run.”

#3~ Great match showcasing two young talents in Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins. I have to believe that the “reports” coming out about Ziggler not being pushed because of injuries to be true since he has had numerous concussions (and once you have one, you’re likely to have more). But you have to question the sense in that when he can put on a performance like he did tonight. He always turns it on when the “lights are on bright” & he’s got that big match mentality, showing it again tonight, making Seth Rollins look great while not looking too shabby in the process.

#4~ Dean Ambrose showing up in street clothes was the perfect touch for this feud. The “lunatic fringe” is the modern-day “rowdy one” except that Ambrose is an exceptional athlete. He started to cut another memorable promo against Rollins before competing in a very good match against the Intercontinental Champion, Bad News Barrett and in his street clothes nonetheless. I love how their focusing Ambrose and Rollins together while Roman Reigns handles The Authority & hopefully an eventual match against Triple H at SummerSlam. This seems like the best route for all parties involved.

#5~ So Roman Reigns inherited The Shield’s theme music. I wonder who the WWE thinks is going to be the star out of that faction… I like the addition of Reigns into the Money In The Bank ladder match. Not only does it give a MASSIVE babyface for the audience to root for but it also gives Randy Orton a direct adversary during the match. Don’t get me wrong, there’s no part of me that believes that Reigns is going to win the match but it adds a nice wrinkle to the storyline of the match.

#6~ Ahhhh they were too busy coming up with Stardust’s theme music to create ones for Seth Rollins or Dean Ambrose. Hell, Ambrose had to wrestle in his street clothes since the seamstresses were too busy with the Stardust costume. Not that I’m complaining! You have to hand it to Cody Rhodes. No matter what’s thrown at him, he can take it and make it work. Better than make it work, he gets it over! I would not be surprised to see a huge ground swell for Goldust & Stardust this summer.

#7~ I have nothing to say about the main event. It was what it was but I’m exhausted and the main event featured Kane & John Cena… Kane who debuted in 1997 and Cena who has been in the main event since winning his first WWE Championship in 2005. Why should I care?×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE RAW 5.26.14 (Daniel Bryan, The Shield, Evolution, Rob Van Dam) Wed, 28 May 2014 02:22:02 +0000 WWE Raw 11-13 Header

#1~ Just what I wanted to see on Memorial Day… coffins. Memorial Day is a day to celebrate those who gave their lives for the United States of America. So celebrate those men and women, don’t just show us pictures of dead soldiers. I’m sorry but that opening rubbed me the wrong way.

#2~ Why was Brad Maddox still Raw General Manager when The Authority are at Raw every, single week?

#3~ I can’t put into words how bored I am with Rob Van Dam. It’s funny how so many people hate John Cena for never updating his character whereas RVD has been riding the same gimmick since 1990. They use the same moves, cut the same promos and wear the same outfits. The only difference is that RVD is more athletic & grew up with the ECW faithful. Now let the commenting begin.

#4~ “Skinny jeans sellout and RK-Blows.” Not a bad line.

#5~ Poor Drew McIntyre. And poor everyone that had to suffer through “one of the most shocking moments in Monday Night Raw history”… the “de-tailing” segment.

#6~ Is it bad that I had to agree with A LOT of what Bray Wyatt had to say?

#7~ Now I have to say poor Jerry Lawler. A few years ago that would have been Jim Ross sitting in the ring surrounded by the Wyatt Family. Now Lawler is the only one on the announce team that garners any sympathy from the crowd.

#8~ I feel like when Batista signed a full-time contract for these past 5 months on the road that he forgot to pack his razor. Besides that, the chemistry between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton is undeniable. I love seeing them in a competitive match. Overall a good showcase for Orton and Batista heading into the PPV. After the loss at Extreme Rules, it was good to establish how dominant these two main-eventers are. The Shield have been pushed so strongly that Evolution needed SOMETHING.

#9~ Nice debut for Bo Dallas on Raw. He and Sin Cara had a good match & Dallas’ promos were exactly what they needed to be. He’s going to get on people’s nerves VERY quickly and that’s a good thing. AND he was the first guy who was able to kill Sin Cara’s special lighting!

#10~ A good segment between Daniel Bryan and Stephanie McMahon that essentially set up a potential WWE World Heavyweight Championship title change without there even being a title match. Nice way to work Daniel Bryan into an important situation on PPV without him having to get physical.

#11~ I never thought I’d see a Diva character crazier than AJ Lee… Good God, imagine a match between those two.

#12~ I’m fine having a cheap match for Adam Rose’s debut. Unfortunately I don’t believe that this character will get a chance to show off his skills in the ring that he displayed as Leo Kruger in NXT. Davey Crockett was just not necessary.

#13~ Ah, Seth Rollins, I’m sorry but only CM Punk can make a mockery of WWE “contract signings”. The big thing I took away from this segment is that Roman Reigns versus Triple H at SummerSlam seems all but set in stone. They chose specific camera shots focusing on those two men and honestly I think it would be a very good match.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg

My Thoughts: WWE Raw 5.19.14 (Bray Wyatt, John Cena, The Shield, Evolution) Tue, 20 May 2014 04:42:41 +0000 WWE Raw 11-13 Header

#1 ~ That was a fantastic way to open RAW. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the WWE “Signature” interrupted before and it just shows how much faith the WWE does have in The Wyatt Family act & particularly Bray Wyatt. Granted the great opening and promo was almost washed away by the “Super-Cena” moment but there’s just no way of getting around things like this with the “John Cena” character.

#2 ~ I’m guessing Cesaro didn’t get an entrance because he probably got a massive pop from this crowd and he’s SUPPOSED to be a “bad guy”. They had to know that Sheamus would be booed. He’s a damn Irishman, wearing the United States Championship and facing Cesaro. Still, a relatively stiff match between two guys who know how to take a punch. I liked the sudden, “stolen” finish with Cesaro winning pretty cleanly over the US Champion. They might be able to put on a pretty good show at Payback.

#3 ~ Once again the WWE attempts to heighten the prestige of the Intercontinental Championship by having a Beat The Clock Challenge for the number one contendership. Add that to the Battle Royal a month ago & WWE’s on the right track to make the IC title something to strive for again.

#4 ~ Hey, at least we didn’t have to sit through Fandango versus R-Truth…

#5 ~ Stephanie McMahon still is one of the greatest heat-seekers in the WWE. First she comes out to Daniel Bryan’s music, a tired & true tactic. But it was the Bad News Barrett montage that really turned up the heat. Even without Bryan on TV, I still look forward to Stephanie’s segments.

#6 ~ Nothing at all special about Batista and Rollins – except for Ambrose on commentary. He was just golden. The only thing we can hope for is that the Evolution/Shield match at Payback is at least as good as their match at Extreme Rules. Adding in that it’s an elimination match and I have high hopes. This is a perfect opportunity to showcase anyone from The Shield and while Roman Reigns may be the obvious choice, Dean Ambrose seems to be the one guy who hasn’t had an opportunity to showcase what he can do in the ring. What better way to spotlight the “lunatic fringe” by having him overcome unbeatable odds?

#7 ~ I had to double-check my calendar because the way this show ended felt like a “go-home” show if there ever was one. Bray Wyatt hovering over John Cena singing while Luke Harper counted to 10 was the perfect image to sell a pay-per-view. But yet we still have another week to go through and thus another chapter to write before we get to Payback. With the way tonight ended, I can only believe that Cena will be standing tall leading into their Last Man Standing match. Whatever they do, I really don’t think they’ll be able to top tonight’s Wyatt/Cena story.×120-2013.jpg×250-raw-2013.jpg
